Abstract

Techniques for suggesting accessory devices controlled by an application executing on a mobile device are disclosed. A method includes measuring one or more sensor values to determine a data point at each of a plurality of first times, associating an accessory device with each of the data points, clustering the data points within a threshold distance of each other to create a plurality of clusters. The method also includes, after clustering the data points, measuring one or more sensor values to determine one or more current data points at a second time, determining that one or more current data points at the second time corresponds to a first cluster of the plurality of clusters, identifying a first accessory device associated with one or more of the data points in the first cluster, and providing a message using the application.

       4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the message is displayed on a user interface of the mobile device and the message includes a plurality of suggested accessory devices to be controlled.

       5. The method according to claim 4 , wherein the plurality of suggested accessory devices are controlled by a single slider displayed on the user interface.

       6. The method according to claim 4 , wherein the plurality of suggested accessory devices are located in a same area of a home.

       7. The method according to claim 4 , wherein one or more of the plurality of suggested accessory devices are located in different areas of a home.

       8. The method according to claim 4 , wherein one or more of the plurality of suggested accessory devices are located in a home and a user is located in an area different from the home.

       9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the data point measured at each of the plurality of first times is a multidimensional data point.

       10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the message including the identified one or more accessory devices is provided to a user without requiring user input.

       11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of clusters correspond to different areas in a home.

       12. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the clustering the data points further comprises determining one or more physical locations of the one or more accessory devices based on a floor plan or a survey of a home, or both.

       13. The method according to claim 1 , wherein after the one or more accessory devices associated with the one or more sensor values in the first cluster is identified, automatically performing an operation associated with the identified one or more accessory devices.

       14. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising determining environmental conditions and automatically performing an operation associated with the identified one or more accessory devices based on the environmental conditions.

       15. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising storing the one or more sensor values of the data points at the plurality of first times and accessory device information of accessory devices associated with the one or more sensor values of the data points at the plurality of first times in a data points database.

       16. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more sensor values within the threshold distance of each other are emitted at a same time in a day.

       17. The method according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of accessory devices are associated with a cluster of the plurality of clusters.

       18. The method according to claim 17 , wherein each of the plurality of accessory devices associated with the cluster are ranked and an accessory device of the plurality of accessory devices associated with the cluster having a higher rank is suggested before an accessory device of the plurality of accessory devices associated with the cluster having a lower rank.

       19. A computer product comprising a non-transitory computer readable medium storing a plurality of instructions that when executed control a mobile device including one or more processors, the instructions comprising:
