Abstract
An organic light-emitting diode display is disclosed. In one aspect, the display includes a substrate including a pixel area and a peripheral area surrounding the pixel area and an organic light-emitting element formed in the pixel area and including a first electrode, an organic emission layer, and a second electrode. The display also includes a common voltage line formed in the peripheral area and configured to provide a common voltage to the second electrode, wherein the common voltage line and the first electrode are formed of the same material.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. An organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display, comprising:
a substrate including a pixel area and a peripheral area surrounding the pixel area;
a plurality of first electrodes disposed in the pixel area and on the substrate;
an organic light-emitting element in the pixel area and including a first electrode of the plurality of first electrodes, an organic emission layer on the first electrode, and a second electrode on the organic emission layer; and
a common voltage line formed in the peripheral area and configured to provide a common voltage to the second electrode,
wherein the common voltage line is in direct and physical contact with another first electrode of the plurality of the first electrodes and is formed of a same material as the plurality of first electrodes, wherein a bottom surface of the common voltage line contacts at least two different layers, wherein the pixel area includes a driving thin film transistor which includes a semiconductor layer, a gate insulating layer, a gate electrode, source and drain electrodes which are connected to the semiconductor layer, wherein the common voltage line has a portion disposed in a same level as a layer where the source and drain electrodes are formed.
2. The OLED display of claim 1 , wherein the another first electrode is connected to the common voltage line adjacent to a border of the pixel area and the peripheral area.
3. The OLED display of claim 1 , further comprising a passivation layer formed over the driving thin film transistor.
4. The OLED display of claim 3 , wherein the plurality of first electrodes are on the passivation layer.
5. The OLED display of claim 3 , wherein the common voltage line is directly connected to the another first electrode on the passivation layer.
6. The OLED display of claim 3 , wherein the first electrode of the organic light-emitting element is not connected to the common voltage line.
7. The OLED display of claim 3 , further comprising a pixel defining layer on the passivation layer.
8. The OLED display of claim 7 , wherein a gap is disposed between adjacent first electrodes of the plurality of first electrodes, and the pixel defining layer has a portion disposed on the gap and on the adjacent first electrodes.
9. The OLED display of claim 1 , further comprising a sealing member in the peripheral area, wherein the sealing member is connected to an encapsulation member to encapsulate the pixel area and the peripheral area from the environment.
10. The OLED display of claim 9 , wherein the common voltage line extends toward a region between the substrate and the sealing member.
11. The OLED display of claim 10 , further comprising a dummy wiring line formed of a metal between the substrate and the common voltage line.
12. The OLED display of claim 1 , wherein the common voltage line is between the substrate and ta pixel defining layer formed in the peripheral area, and is on an upper surface and a lateral surface of a passivation layer which covers and protects the source and drain electrodes of the driving thin film transistor.
13. The OLED display of claim 12 , wherein the second electrode is disposed on an upper surface of the pixel defining layer, in the pixel area.
14. The OLED display of claim 1 , wherein the at least two layers comprise a passivation layer and an interlayer insulating layer disposed over the substrate, wherein the common voltage line has a first portion formed on a top surface of the passivation layer and a second portion formed on a lateral surface of the passivation layer or a top surface of the interlayer insulating layer, and wherein the second portion is thicker than the first portion.
15. The OLED display of claim 1 , wherein the common voltage line has a non-linear shape.
16. The OLED display of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the common voltage line is placed directly below the another first electrode.
17. The OLED display of claim 1 , wherein the common voltage line is integrally formed with the another first electrode.Cited by (0)
