Abstract
Omega-3 compositions, dosage forms, and methods of use are disclosed herein. The omega-3 compositions and dosage forms disclosed herein may comprise DHA and EPA. The omega-3 compositions and dosage forms disclosed herein may comprise re-esterified triglycerides. Methods of treatment using the compositions and dosage forms are also disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedThe invention claimed is:
1. A composition comprising:
a processed marine oil composition comprising fatty acid esters, wherein the fatty acid esters comprise esters of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), including re-esterified esters of 4Z, 7Z, 10Z, 13Z, 16Z, 19Z-docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and re-esterified esters of 5Z, 8Z, 11Z, 14Z, 17Z-eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA); wherein either:
a ratio of re-esterified esters of DHA to re-esterified esters of EPA is from 3:2 to 4:1, and wherein at least 55% of the fatty acid esters are esters of omega-3 PUFAs;
the processed marine oil composition including 450 mg to 700 mg of re-esterified esters of DHA and at least about 150 mg to 300 mg of re-esterified esters of EPA; or
both.
2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of re-esterified esters of DHA to esters of EPA is from 5:2 to 4:1.
3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein 0 wt % to 5 wt % of the fatty acid esters are in the form of re-esterified monoglycerides (rMGs).
4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein 5 wt % or less of the fatty acid esters are in the form of ethyl esters.
5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein at least 60 wt % of the fatty acid esters are esters of PUFAs.
6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein at least 50 wt % of the fatty acid esters are re-esterified esters of DHA and re-esterified esters of EPA.
7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein 0 wt % to 35 wt % of the fatty acid esters are esters of mono-unsaturated fatty acids.
8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein 0 wt % to 5 wt % of the fatty acid esters are esters of saturated fatty acids.
9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein at least 15 wt % of the marine oil is derived from cephalopod oil.
10. The composition of claim 1 , wherein 55% to 70% of the fatty acid esters are re-esterified triglycerides (rTGs).
11. The composition of claim 1 , wherein 25% to 45% of the fatty acid esters are re-esterified diglycerides (rDGs).
12. The composition of claim 1 , wherein at least 50% of the fatty acid esters are re-esterified triglycerides (rTGs).
13. The composition of claim 1 , wherein at least 80% of the PUFAs are re-esterified esters of DHA and EPA.
14. A dosage form comprising the composition of claim 1 .
15. The dosage form of claim 14 , wherein the processed marine oil composition includes 450 mg to 700 mg of re-esterified esters of DHA and 150 mg to 300 mg of re-esterified esters of EPA and wherein a ratio of re-esterified esters of DHA to esters of EPA is from 3:2 to 4:1.
16. The dosage form of claim 14 , wherein the ratio of re-esterified esters of DHA to esters of EPA is from 5:2 to 4:1.
17. The dosage form of claim 14 , wherein at least 50% of the fatty acid esters are re-esterified triglycerides (rTGs).
18. The dosage form of claim 14 , wherein a mass of the dosage form is 1200 mg to 1600 mg.
19. The dosage form of claim 14 , wherein the dosage form is a capsule.
20. The dosage form of claim 14 , wherein the dosage form is a liquid.Cited by (0)
