Method and system for a networked self-configuring communication device utilizing user preference information
Abstract
A first electronic device may enable generation, updating, and/or storage of user configuration information. The user configuration information may comprise information pertaining to device configuration and/or operational preferences specific to the device user and/or various use settings, connectivity, and/or use of available resources. The generation, updating, and/or storage of the user configuration information may be performed manually and/or automatically, and may be performed directly within the first electronic device and/or via networked devices, which may communicatively coupled to the first electronic device. A second electronic device may be enabled to be communicatively coupled to the first electronic device and/or the networked devices. The second electronic device may then be enabled to download existing user configuration information from the first electronic device and/or the networked device, and the downloaded user configuration may be utilized to configure the second electronic device.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein
the second circuitry is configured to control provision of content delivery from a server remote from the first circuitry to the second electronic device based on the user configuration information.
5. The system of claim 1 , wherein
the user interface of the second electronic includes a touch screen display configured to display a graphical user interface and receive a touch input.
6. The system of claim 1 , wherein
the second electronic device is communicatively coupled to a microphone configured to capture voice commands, and
the second circuitry is configured to receive and process the voice commands captured by the microphone.
7. The system of claim 1 , wherein
the user interface is configured to receive user commands corresponding to settings for reproducing audio content, and
the second circuitry is configured to control reproduction of audio content based on the settings received via the user interface.
8. The system of claim 1 , wherein
at least a portion of the user configuration information includes website access preferences corresponding to the user, and
the second circuitry is configured to control provision of website content to the second electronic device based on the website access preferences included in the user configuration information.
9. The system of claim 1 , wherein
at least a portion of the user configuration information includes media consumption settings corresponding to the user, and
the second circuitry is configured to control provision of media content to the second electronic device based on the media consumption settings in the user configuration information.
10. The system of claim 1 , wherein
at least a portion of the user configuration information identifies preferred broadcast channels corresponding to the user, and
the second circuitry is configured to control provision of content of a media content streaming service to the second electronic device based on the preferred broadcast channels identified in the user configuration information.
11. The system of claim 1 , wherein
at least a portion of the user configuration information includes user interface configuration preferences corresponding to the user, and
the second circuitry is configured to customize the user interface of the second electronic device based on the user interface configuration preferences included in the user configuration information.
12. The system of claim 1 , wherein
at least a portion of the user configuration information includes user preferences for receiving status information, and
the second circuitry is configured to control provision of status information to the second electronic device based on the user preferences for receiving status information included in the user configuration information.
13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first circuitry is configured to:
receive and store a plurality of configuration information for each of a plurality of users; and
select the user configuration information, from among the plurality of configuration information, to be transmitted to the second electronic device based on the login information.
14. A system comprising:
circuitry configured to
receive user configuration information corresponding to a user from a first electronic device;
store the user configuration information;
receive login information from a second electronic device;
determine whether the received login information corresponds to the user;
transmit the user configuration information to a second personal electronic device when it is determined that the received login information corresponds to the user to configure the second electronic device.
15. The system of claim 14 , wherein
the circuitry is configured to control provision of content delivery to the second electronic device based on the user configuration information.
16. The system of claim 14 , wherein
the second electronic device is configured to control provision of content delivery to the second electronic device based on the user configuration information.
17. The system of claim 14 , wherein
the user configuration includes at least one of network connectivity, service access, secure access information, network and/or service access information and/or preferences that are unique to a particular use, and/or manner of use of available resources.
18. An electronic device comprising:
a user interface configured to receive login information corresponding to a user;
a communication interface configured to
send the login information to a server system via a network; and
receive, from the server system, user configuration information identifying user configuration information corresponding to the user based on the login information, wherein the user configuration is provided to the server system from another electronic device that is different from the electronic device; and
circuitry configured to control provision of content delivery to the electronic device based on the user configuration information.
19. The electronic device of claim 18 , wherein
the electronic device includes a microphone configured to capture voice commands, and
the circuitry is configured to receive and process the voice commands captured by the microphone.
20. The electronic device of claim 18 , wherein
the user interface is configured to receive user commands corresponding to settings for reproducing audio content, and
the circuitry is configured to control reproduction of audio content based on the settings received via the user interface.Cited by (0)
