Abstract

A heat sink for electronic devices, such as wearable displays, dissipates heat away from and electrical component, such as a microprocessor. An adjustable support assembly permits adjustment of a visual display relative to a user's field of view.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A wearable display including
 a headset configured to be worn on a user's head;
 a visual display assembly including:
 a support body having a thickness and supported by the headset; and
 a visual display supported by the support body to be positioned forward of a user's eye wearing the headset;

 an electrical component in communication with the visual display; and
 a heat sink in thermal communication with the electrical component, the heat sink including:
 a base on the outer profile of the support body to receive heat from the electrical component; and
 a plurality of heat-dissipating thin-walled sections in thermal communication with and extending distally away from the base in a direction away from the user's head when the headset is worn by the user, to dissipate heat from the electrical component into the environment.

       2. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, extend distally away from the base by a distance greater than the thickness of the support body.

       3. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the headset comprises a pair of glasses configured to be mounted to the user's head.

       4. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the support body comprises a glass pod.

       5. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein each of a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, extend distally away from the base to a thin-walled terminus to which nothing is attached.

       6. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other.

       7. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are equally spaced apart from each other.

       8. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, extend distally away from the base in a uniform direction perpendicular to the base.

       9. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are rigid metal.

       10. The wearable display of claim 9 , wherein the rigid metal comprises aluminum.

       11. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other and extend distally away from the base by a distance greater than the thickness of the support body.

       12. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein each of a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other and extend distally away from the base to a thin-walled terminus to which nothing is attached.

       13. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein each of a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other and are equally spaced apart from each other.

       14. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein each of a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other and extend distally away from the base in a uniform direction perpendicular to the base.

       15. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are equally spaced apart from each other and extend distally away from the base by a distance greater than the thickness of the support body.

       16. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein each of a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are equally spaced apart from each other and extend distally away from the base to a thin-walled terminus to which nothing is attached.

       17. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are equally spaced apart from each other and extend distally away from the base in a uniform direction perpendicular to the base.

       18. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other, are equally spaced apart from each other, and extend distally away from the base by a distance greater than the thickness of the support body.

       19. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other, are equally spaced apart from each other, extend distally away from the base by a distance greater than the thickness of the support body, and extend distally away from the base in a uniform direction perpendicular to the base.

       20. The wearable display of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the heat-dissipating thin-walled sections comprising fins, are parallel to each other, are equally spaced apart from each other, extend distally away from the base by a distance greater than the thickness of the support body, extend distally away from the base in a uniform direction perpendicular to the base, and extend distally away from the base to a thin-walled terminus to which nothing is attached.
