Abstract

An orthopedic device has first and second elongate struts each having a strap coupling member, and a flexible strap securing to the first and second struts by the strap coupling members. The orthopedic device includes various embodiments of hinge assemblies including flexion and extension stops and locks for maintaining the hinge assembly in a fixed configuration. The orthopedic device has various embodiments of strap assemblies for securing components to cuff assemblies.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention claimed is:

       1. An orthopedic device, comprising:
 first and second upright assemblies, each including a first strut and a second strut connected to one another by a hinge;
 a strap assembly connecting to the first and second upright assemblies, the strap assembly having first and second strap coupling members secured to the first and second upright assemblies, respectively, and a first strap securing through the first and second strap coupling members; and
 an anti-migration wrap located along the strap assembly and securing to the first strap so as to form a circumference within the first and second upright assemblies;
 wherein the anti-migration wrap has an attachment element located at a first end of the anti-migration wrap and secures to a surface of a second end of the anti-migration wrap to form a circumference;
 wherein the anti-migration wrap includes a strap keeper defining a channel through which the first strap extends;
 wherein the anti-migration wrap has a geometry broader than the first strap, and is arranged to extend about a larger geometry of a leg than the first strap.

       2. The orthopedic device of claim 1 , wherein the strap assembly secures to the second strut of the first and second upright assemblies, which is arranged to correspond to a lower leg below a knee.

       3. The orthopedic device of claim 2 , wherein the anti-migration wrap is arranged to extend below the knee and above an apex of a calf muscle.

       4. The orthopedic device of claim 1 , wherein the anti-migration wrap is flexible and breathable.

       5. The orthopedic device of claim 1 , wherein the anti-migration wrap comprises a foam material having substantially high frictional properties.

       6. The orthopedic device of claim 1 , wherein the anti-migration wrap includes a core formed from foam, and at least a frictional layer extending over a first surface of the core, the frictional layer having a thickness less than the core.

       7. The orthopedic device of claim 6 , wherein a layer of hook receivable material extends over a second surface of the core.

       8. The orthopedic device of claim 6 , wherein the frictional layer has a density in the range of 20 to 40 kg/m 3 and the core has a density in the range of 50 kg/m 3 to 65 kg/m 3 .

       9. The orthopedic device of claim 1 , further comprising a strap lock located along one of the first and second struts of the first and second upright assemblies, the strap lock arranged to engage the first strap to prevent movement of the strap relative to the one of the first and second struts of the first and second upright assemblies.

       10. The orthopedic device of claim 9 , wherein the strap lock is in the form of hook material and is placed on an inside of the one of the first and second struts of the first and second upright assemblies and configured to face the first strap.

       11. The orthopedic device of claim 1 , further comprising at least one friction pad located along one of the first and second upright assemblies, the at least one friction pad having a core formed from foam, and at least a frictional layer extending over a first surface of the core, the frictional layer having a thickness less than the core.

       12. An orthopedic device, comprising:
 first and second upright assemblies, each including a first strut and a second strut connected to one another by a hinge;
 a strap assembly connecting to the first and second upright assemblies, the strap assembly having first and second strap coupling members secured to the first and second upright assemblies, respectively, and a first strap securing through the first and second strap coupling members; and
 a pressure relief pad adapted to reduce pressure at a surgical site of a user and minimize risk in interfering with the surgical site, the pressure relief pad being located on the strap assembly and having a central opening, and the pressure relief pad being adjustable and securable along a length of the first strap;
 wherein the pressure relief pad has a foam core and at least one fastening strip connected to the foam core, the at least one fastening strip being arranged to engage a surface of the first strap.

       13. The orthopedic device of claim 12 , wherein the central opening of the pressure relief pad has an elongate oval shape.

       14. The orthopedic device of claim 12 , wherein the pressure relief pad includes a backing layer secured onto a surface of the foam core, and the at least one fastening strip secured to the backing layer.

       15. An orthopedic device, comprising:
 first and second upright assemblies, each including a first strut and a second strut connected to one another by a hinge;
 first and second strap assemblies connecting to the first and second upright assemblies, the first and second strap assemblies each having first and second strap coupling members secured to the first and second upright assemblies, respectively, and a strap securing through the first and second strap coupling members;
 an anti-migration wrap located along one of the first and second strap assemblies and securing to the strap so as to form a circumference within the first and second upright assemblies;
 a pressure relief pad adapted to reduce pressure at a surgical site of a user and minimize risk in interfering with the surgical site, the pressure relief pad being located on the strap assembly and having a central opening, the pressure relief pad being adjustable and securable along a length of the first strap;
 wherein the pressure relief pad has a foam core and at least one fastening strip connected to the foam core, the at least one fastening strip being arranged to engage a surface of the first strap;
 at least one friction pad located along one of the first and second strap coupling members of the first and second strap assemblies, the at least one friction pad having a core formed from foam, and at least a frictional layer extending over a first surface of the core, the frictional layer having a thickness less than the core.
