Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for systems and methods for voice-based device operation mode management. Example methods may include determining that a device is coupled to an accessory device, and determining that being coupled to the accessory device triggers activation of a first operation mode at the device. The first operation mode presents digital content at the display in a user interface having a first content density that is less than a second content density of a second operation mode. Example methods may include causing the device to activate the first operation mode, receiving first voice data indicative of a request to change the device operation mode to the second operation mode, and causing the device to activate the second operation mode.

Claims

That which is claimed is:

       1. A device comprising:
 a microphone;
 memory that stores computer-executable instructions; and
 at least one processor configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to:
 determine that the device is coupled to an accessory device when the device is in a touch-forward operating mode, wherein the touch-forward operating mode causes content to be presented using a first visual format having a first content density;
 identify the accessory device as a docking station;
 determine that being coupled to the docking station triggers activation of a voice-forward operation mode at the device, wherein the voice-forward operation mode presents digital content at the display in a user interface having a second content density less than the first content density;
 activate the voice-forward operation mode at the device;
 receive first voice data representative of a user utterance;
 determine that the first voice data comprises a wakeword;
 send second voice data to a remote server for voice processing to determine a meaning of the second voice data;
 receive an indication that the second voice data is a request to change a device operation mode from the voice-forward operation mode to the touch-forward operation mode;
 activate the touch-forward operation mode while the device is coupled to the docking station; and
 present a home screen user interface of the touch-forward operation mode at a display of the device.

       2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to:
 receive third voice data indicative of a request to change the device operation mode from the touch-forward operation mode to the voice-forward operation mode;
 activate the voice-forward operation mode while the device is coupled to the docking station;
 present a home screen user interface of the voice-forward operation mode at the display; and
 determine that the device is decoupled from the docking station.

       3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to:
 determine an active application executing on the device;
 enable a remote application that corresponds to the active application; and
 reformat, based at least in part on the remote application, an application interface presented at the device in the touch-forward operation mode for presentation in the voice-forward operation mode.

       4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to:
 receive third voice data indicative of a request to open an application;
 determine that the device is in the voice-forward operation mode;
 determine that the application available at the device is a touch-forward application version;
 determine that a voice-forward version of the application is available for enabling;
 present an audible query requesting permission to enable the voice-forward version;
 receive fourth voice data indicative of an affirmative response;
 enable the voice-forward version at a remote server; and
 cause an interface associated with the voice-forward version of the application to be opened at the device.

       5. A method comprising:
 determining, by one or more computer processors coupled to memory, that a device is coupled to an accessory device;
 determining that being coupled to the accessory device triggers activation of a first operation mode at the device, wherein the first operation mode presents digital content at the display in a user interface having a first content density that is less than a second content density of a second operation mode;
 causing the device to activate the first operation mode;
 receiving first voice data indicative of a request to change the device operation mode to the second operation mode, wherein a first home screen user interface associated with the first operation mode is presented prior to receiving the first voice data;
 causing the device to activate the second operation mode; and
 presenting a second home screen user interface associated with the second operation mode after receiving the first voice data.

       6. The method of claim 5 , wherein determining that being coupled to the accessory device triggers activation of the first operation mode at the device comprises determining that being coupled to the accessory device triggers activation of a voice-forward operation mode at the device.

       7. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:
 presenting an application interface of an application in the second operation mode;
 determining a reformatted application interface associated with a remote application corresponding to the application for presentation in the first operation mode; and
 presenting the reformatted application interface.

       8. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:
 receiving second voice data indicative of a request to open an application;
 requesting permission to enable a version of the application;
 causing enablement of the version of the application; and
 causing the version of the application to be opened.

       9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
 determining that an available version of the application is for the second operation mode; and
 determining that the version of the application is available for enablement, wherein the version of the application is for the first operation mode.

       10. The method of claim 8 , wherein requesting permission to enable the version of the application comprises causing presentation of an audible query requesting permission to enable the version of the application, the method further comprising:
 receiving third voice data indicative of an affirmative response to the audible query.

       11. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:
 receiving second voice data indicative of a request to open an application;
 determining that an available version of the application is for the second operation mode;
 causing the device to change the device operation mode to the second operation mode; and
