Abstract

A compound includes a group derived from chondroitin sulfate, a group derived from a steroid, and a spacer. The group derived from the chondroitin sulfate and the group derived from the steroid are covalently bonded together via the spacer, and a spacer forming molecule of the spacer is β-alanine or isoleucine. A covalent bond between the group derived from the steroid and the spacer is an ester bond, and a covalent bond between the group derived from the chondroitin sulfate and the spacer is an amide bond. The steroid is at least one selected from the group consisting of prednisolone, betamethasone, triamcinolone, triamcinolone acetonide, budesonide and fluticasone.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention claimed is:

       1. A compound comprising:
 a group derived from chondroitin sulfate;
 a group derived from a steroid; and
 a spacer
 wherein the group derived from the chondroitin sulfate and the group derived from the steroid are covalently bonded together via the spacer,
 wherein a spacer forming molecule of the spacer is β-alanine or isoleucine,
 wherein a covalent bond between the group derived from the steroid and the spacer is an ester bond, and a covalent bond between the group derived from the chondroitin sulfate and the spacer is an amide bond, and
 wherein the steroid is at least one selected from the group consisting of prednisolone, betamethasone, triamcinolone, triamcinolone acetonide, budesonide and fluticasone.

       2. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein the chondroitin sulfate has a weight average molecular weight of not less than 2,500 and not more than 120,000.

       3. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein the group derived from the chondroitin sulfate forms a pharmaceutically acceptable salt.

       4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound according to claim 1 .

       5. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 4 , wherein the compound has a reduced systemic adverse side effect associated with the steroid, as compared to the steroid alone.

       6. The compound according to claim 1 , wherein the steroid is at least one selected from the group consisting of betamethasone, triamcinolone, triamcinolone acetonide, budesonide and fluticasone.

       7. The pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 6 .
