Printer-verifiers and systems and methods for verifying printed indicia
Abstract
A printer-verifier is provided for printing and verifying a printed indicium. Printer-verifier includes imaging module for capturing image of printed indicium on print media, memory communicatively coupled to imaging module and configured to store print quality verification program, and processor communicatively coupled to memory. Processor is configured by print quality verification program to evaluate print quality of printed indicium, determine if print quality meets print quality standard, reject printed indicium on print media as rejected printed media when print quality does not meet print quality standard, and one of output location-specific feedback about rejected printed media or send a command signal to cutting device to destroy rejected printed media. Location-specific feedback is in same language as language associated with printer-verifier. A printer and methods for verifying the printed indicium are also provided.

1. A printer-verifier device comprising:
an imaging module, configured to capture an image of a printed indicium on a printed media;
a processor communicatively coupled to the imaging module, and configured to:
evaluate a print quality of the printed indicium from the image of the printed indicium captured by the imaging module;
retrieve location-specific feedback from a plurality of location-specific feedback stored in a memory, based on a language corresponding to a specific location of the printer-verifier device; and
cause the location-specific feedback to be output as an audio feedback in the language, wherein the language comprises a human language.
2. The printer-verifier device according to claim 1 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises a recorded language as the audio feedback.
3. The printer-verifier device according to claim 1 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises a synthesized spoken language as the audio feedback.
4. The printer-verifier device according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine the language based on a current location of a printer determined from at least one of a configuration setting in an internal localization database of the printer, or from location details of at least one of a local internet server, a local cellular tower, and a GPS setting, to which the printer-verifier device is connected.
5. The printer-verifier device according to claim 1 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises an error message, an instruction message, or both the error message and the instruction message.
6. The printer-verifier device according to claim 1 , wherein retrieving the location-specific feedback comprises:
retrieving a first message in a first language corresponding to a specific location of the printer-verifier device; and
retrieving a second message in a second language corresponding to a language preferred by a printer user.
7. The printer-verifier device according to claim 6 , wherein the first message corresponds to an error message, and wherein the second message corresponds to an instruction message.
8. A method for operating a printer-verifier device comprising:
causing, by a processor, an imaging module to capture an image of a printed indicium on a printed media;
evaluating, by the processor, a print quality of the printed indicium from the image of the printed indicium captured by the imaging module;
retrieving, by the processor, a location-specific feedback from a plurality of location-specific feedback stored in a memory, based on a first language corresponding to a specific location of the printer-verifier device, and a second language corresponding to a language preferred by a printer user; and
causing, by the processor, the location-specific feedback to be output as an audio feedback in the first language and the second language, wherein the first language and the second language comprises a human language.
9. The method according to claim 8 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises a recorded language as the audio feedback.
10. The method according to claim 8 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises a synthesized spoken language as the audio feedback.
11. The method according to claim 8 , further comprising:
determining, by the processor, the first language and the second language are determined based on a current location of the printer-verifier device determined from at least one of a configuration setting in an internal localization database of the printer-verifier device, or from location details of at least one of a local internet server, a local cellular tower, and a GPS setting, to which the printer-verifier device is connected.
12. The method according to claim 8 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises an error message, an instruction message, or both the error message and the instruction message.
13. A method comprising:
evaluating, by a processor, a print quality of a printed indicium from an image of the printed indicium;
retrieving, by the processor, a location-specific feedback from a plurality of location-specific feedback stored in a memory, based on a language corresponding to a specific location of a computing device; and
causing, by the processor, the location-specific feedback to be output as an audio feedback in the language, wherein the language comprises a human language.
14. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:
causing, by the processor, an imaging module, associated with the computing device, to capture the image of the printed indicium.
15. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises a recorded language as the audio feedback.
16. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises a synthesized spoken language as the audio feedback.
17. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:
determining, by the processor, the language based on a current location of the computing device, wherein the current location of the computing device determined from at least one of a configuration setting in an internal localization database of the computing device, or from location details of at least one of a local internet server, a local cellular tower, and a GPS setting, to which the computing device is connected.
18. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the location-specific feedback comprises an error message, an instruction message, or both the error message and the instruction message.
19. The method according to claim 13 , wherein retrieving the location-specific feedback comprises retrieving a first message in a first language corresponding to a specific location of the computing device and retrieving a second message in a second language corresponding to a language preferred by a user of the computing device.
20. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the first message corresponds to an error message, and wherein the second message corresponds to an instruction message.Cited by (0)
