Abstract
A ball turret includes a turret shell having a rear portion and a front portion. The rear portion and the front portion are assembled to form the turret shell. The shell includes a block assembly configured to mount to a mounting element of a weapon system, and a yoke carriage assembly configured to receive and mount to the block assembly. A number of guide rods within the turret shell are configured to mount the yoke carriage assembly thereto and to provide a recoil shock absorber in response to a discharge of the weapon system. The yoke carriage assembly is releasably mounted to the block assembly.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. A ball turret, comprising:
a turret shell having a rear portion and a front portion, the rear portion and the front portion assembled to form the turret shell;
a block assembly configured to mount to a mounting element of a weapon system;
a yoke carriage assembly configured to receive and mount to the block assembly; and
a plurality of guide rods within the turret shell, the guide rods configured to mount the yoke carriage assembly thereto and to provide a recoil shock absorber in response to a discharge of the weapon system, the yoke carriage assembly releasably mounted to the block assembly.
2. The ball turret of claim 1 , and further comprising a laser assembly mounted in an interior of the ball turret and configured to provide optical sighting of the weapon system.
3. The ball turret of claim 1 , wherein the yoke carriage assembly comprises a pair of release arms operable in a pivotable manner to release the yoke carriage assembly from the turret shell.
4. The ball turret of claim 1 , wherein the rear portion has openings for mounting a system comprising the yoke carriage assembly, the block assembly, and a weapon system therein.
5. The ball turret of claim 1 , wherein the front portion has a laser assembly opening, and an ordnance opening.
6. The ball turret of claim 1 , wherein the ball turret includes at least one of an aiming laser, a video camera, a disruptor light/flashlight, and a quick release sleeve system configured to enable mounting of a pistol platform to the ball turret.
7. The ball turret of claim 1 , wherein the ball turret further comprises a locking piece connectable to a pistol guard of a pistol platform and coupleable to a locking connector in the ball turret.
8. The ball turret of claim 1 , wherein the ball turret is mounted in a shield body, the shield body comprising:
a front face and a rear face, and having an opening therein;
a handle on the rear face; and
a ballistic viewing window in the shield body.
9. The ball turret of claim 8 , wherein the ball turret is rotatably mounted in the shield body.
10. The ball turret of claim 9 , wherein the ball turret includes at least one of an aiming laser, a video camera, a disruptor light/flashlight, and a quick release sleeve system configured to enable mounting of a pistol platform to the ball turret.
11. The ball turret of claim 10 , wherein the ball turret further comprises a locking piece connectable to a pistol guard of the pistol platform and coupleable to a locking connector in the ball turret.
12. A ball turret, comprising:
a front portion and a rear portion, the front portion and the rear portion which fit together to form a turret shell;
wherein the front portion comprises a semi-spherical shape having a flat front face with at least one opening therein for passage of ordnance through the opening;
wherein the rear portion comprises a semi-spherical shape having a flat rear face with at least one opening therein for a weapon system; and
wherein the turret shell includes within a center thereof, a block assembly configured to mount to a mounting element of the weapon system;
a yoke carriage assembly configured to receive and mount to the block assembly; and
a plurality of guide rods within the turret shell, the guide rods configured to mount the yoke carriage assembly thereto and to provide a recoil shock absorber in response to a discharge of the weapon system, the yoke carriage assembly releasably mounted to the block assembly.
13. The ball turret of claim 12 , and further comprising a laser assembly mounted in an interior of the ball turret and configured to provide optical sighting of the weapon system.
14. The ball turret of claim 12 , wherein the yoke carriage assembly comprises a pair of release arms operable in a pivotable manner to release the yoke carriage assembly from the turret shell.
15. The ball turret of claim 12 , wherein the rear portion has openings for mounting a system comprising the yoke carriage assembly, the block assembly, and a weapon system therein.
16. The ball turret of claim 12 , wherein the front portion has a laser assembly opening, and an ordnance opening.
17. The ball turret of claim 12 , wherein the ball turret includes at least one of an aiming laser, a video camera, a disruptor light/flashlight, and a quick release sleeve system configured to enable mounting of a pistol platform to the ball turret.
18. The ball turret of claim 17 , wherein the ball turret further comprises a locking piece connectable to a pistol guard of a pistol platform and coupleable to a locking connector in the ball turret.Cited by (0)
