Abstract

A method for positioning in a mobile communication system are provided. Method for positioning includes receiving from a base station a SIB 1 comprising a first scheduling information and a second scheduling information, acquiring a SI, transmitting to the base station a UECapabilitylnformation the UECapabilitylnformation includes a capability information related to PRS, transmitting to a LMF a provideCapabilities including a capability information related to SRS, transmitting to the LMF a RequestAssistanceData comprising a physical cell identity of Primary Cell (PCell) and a second identifier related to a second PRS data of the one or more second PRS data, receiving from the LMF a ProvideAssistanceData including a first PRS data the first PRS data includes a first identifier and one or more nr-DL-PRS-ResourceSet, receiving a RRCRelease including an information related to SRS transmission in RRC_INACTIVE, transmitting a positioning SRS in RRC_INACTIVE state and transmitting to the LMF a ProvideLocationlnformation.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A method by a terminal, the method comprising:
 receiving, by the terminal from a base station, a System Information Block 1 (SIB 1 ), the SIB 1  comprises a first scheduling information and a second scheduling information;
 acquiring, by the terminal, a System Information (SI) based at least in part on the first scheduling information and the second scheduling information, the SI includes a positioning SIB, the positioning SIB includes one or more second Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) data, each of the one or more second PRS data includes a second identifier and one or more nr-DL-PRS-ResourceSet;
 transmitting, by the terminal to the base station, a UECapabilitylnformation, the UECapabilitylnformation includes a capability information related to PRS;
 transmitting, by the terminal to a Location Management Function (LMF), a provideCapabilities, the provideCapabilities includes a capability information related to Sounding Reference Signal (SRS);
 transmitting, by the terminal to the Location Management Function (LMF), a RequestAssistanceData, the RequestAssistanceData includes a physical cell identitfier of Primary Cell (PCell) and a second identifier, the second identifier is related to a second PRS data of the one or more second PRS data;
 receiving, by the terminal from the LMF, a ProvideAssistanceData, the ProvideAssistanceData includes a first PRS data, the first PRS data includes a first identifier and one or more nr-DL-PRS-ResourceSet;
 receiving, by the terminal from the base station, a RRCRelease, the RRCRelease includes information related to SRS transmission in RRC_INACTIVE;
 transmitting, by the terminal, a positioning SRS in RRC_INACTIVE state; and
 transmitting, by the terminal to the LMF, a ProvideLocationlnformation.

       2. The method of  claim 1 ,
 wherein a downlink (DL) PRS indicated in the first PRS data is measured by the terminal if a positioning measurement is required and a DL PRS indicated in the second PRS data is requested by the terminal to theLMF if thepositioning measurement is required.

       3. The method of  claim 1 ,
 wherein the capability information related to SRS is band specific and the capability information related to PRS is terminal specific.

       4. The method of  claim 1 ,
 wherein the ProvideLocationlnformation includes at least the first identifier and a time difference between one or more Transmission Reception Points (TRPs), the time difference between one or more TRPs is measured based on the first PRS data in RRC_INACTIVE.

       5. A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
 a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal; and
 a controller configured to control the transceiver to:
 receive from a base station a System Information Block 1 (SIB 1 ), the SIB 1  comprises a first scheduling information and a second scheduling information;
 acquire a System Information (SI) based at least in part on the first scheduling information and the second scheduling information, the SI includes a positioning SIB, the positioning SIB includes one or more second Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) data, each of the one or more second PRS data includes a second identifier and one or more nr-DL-PRS-ResourceSet;
 transmit to the base station a UECapabilitylnformation, the UECapabilitylnformation includes a capability information related to PRS;
 transmit to a Location Management Function (LMF) a provideCapabilities, the provideCapabilities includes a capability information related to Sounding Reference Signal (SRS);
 transmit to the LMF a RequestAssistanceData, the RequestAssistanceData includes a physical cell identity of Primary Cell (PCell) and the second identifier, the second identifier is related to a second PRS data of the one or more second PRS data;
 receive from the LMF a ProvideAssistanceData, the ProvideAssistanceData includes a first PRS data, the first PRS data includes a first identifier and one or more nr-DL-PRS-ResourceSet;
 receive from the base station a RRCRelease, the RRCRelease includes information related to SRS transmission in RRC_INACTIVE;
 transmit, a positioning SRS in RRC_INACTIVE state; and
 transmit to the LMF a ProvideLocationlnformation.
