Abstract

Disclosed herein are a point cloud data transmission method including encoding point cloud data, and transmitting point cloud data, and a point cloud data reception method including receiving point cloud data, decoding the point cloud data, and rendering the point cloud data.

What is claimed is: 
     
       1. A method for transmitting point cloud data, the method comprising:
 encoding point cloud data for a non-timed content; 
 encapsulating the point cloud data in a file; and 
 transmitting the file, 
 wherein the file includes a first component item including geometry data of the point cloud data, a second component item including attribute data of the point cloud data, a third component item including occupancy data of the point cloud data, an atlas item including atlas data of the point cloud data, and an atlas tile item including an atlas tile, 
 wherein the atlas tile item is associated with property information including information for representing a number of tiles and information for representing an identifier of a tile, and 
 wherein relationship between the atlas item and the atlas tile item is indicated based on item reference information. 
 
     
     
       2. The method of  claim 1 ,
 wherein, based on non-time point cloud data including a single atlas, the single atlas is encapsulated based on one or more tile items in the file. 
 
     
     
       3. An apparatus for transmitting point cloud data, the apparatus comprising:
 an encoder configured to encode point cloud data for a non-timed content; 
 an encapsulator configured to encapsulate the point cloud data in a file; and 
 a transmitter configured to transmit the file, 
 wherein the file includes a first component item including geometry data of the point cloud data, a second component item including attribute data of the point cloud data, a third component item including occupancy data of the point cloud data, an atlas item including atlas data of the point cloud data, and an atlas tile item including an atlas tile, 
 wherein the atlas tile item is associated with property information including information for representing a number of tiles and information for representing an identifier of a tile, and 
 wherein relationship between the atlas item and the atlas tile item is indicated based on item reference information. 
 
     
     
       4. The apparatus of  claim 3 ,
 wherein, based on non-time point cloud data including a single atlas, the single atlas is encapsulated based on one or more atlas tile items in the file. 
 
     
     
       5. A method for receiving point cloud data, the method comprising:
 receiving a file including point cloud data for a non-timed content; 
 decapsulating the file; and 
 decoding the point cloud data, 
 wherein the file includes a first component item including geometry data of the point cloud data, a second component item including attribute data of the point cloud data, a third component item including occupancy data of the point cloud data, an atlas item including atlas data of the point cloud data, and an atlas tile item including an atlas tile, 
 wherein the atlas tile item is associated with property information including information for representing a number of tiles and information for representing an identifier of a tile, and 
 wherein relationship between the atlas item and the atlas tile item is indicated based on item reference information. 
 
     
     
       6. The method of  claim 5 ,
 wherein, based on non-time point cloud data including a single atlas, the single atlas is encapsulated based on one or more tile items in the file. 
 
     
     
       7. An apparatus for receiving point cloud data, the apparatus comprising:
 a receiver configured to receive a file including point cloud data for a non-timed content; 
 a decapsulator configured to decapsulate the file; and 
 a decoder configured to decode the point cloud data, 
 wherein the file includes a first component item including geometry data of the point cloud data, a second component item including attribute data of the point cloud data, a third component item including occupancy data of the point cloud data, an atlas item including atlas data of the point cloud data, and an atlas tile item including an atlas tile, 
 wherein the atlas tile item is associated with property information including information for representing a number of tiles and information for representing an identifier of a tile, and 
 wherein relationship between the atlas item and the atlas tile item is indicated based on item reference information. 
 
     
     
       8. The apparatus of  claim 7 ,
 wherein, based on non-time point cloud data including a single atlas, the single atlas is encapsulated based on one or more tile items in the file.
