Abstract

Disclosed is a system and method for receiving, at a user device, data from a near-field-communication tag on an object, initiating, based on the data, a browser on the user device, navigating, based on the data and via the browser, to a site and transmitting authorized payment data or other task to the site based on payment data retrieved from either the user device or a network entity. The data can be communicated from the browser to the site through an application programming interface. Any task can be performed as well such as opening a door, starting a car, or renting a parking space.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
We claim:

       1. A method comprising:
 establishing, from a site and based on a user device receiving a universal resource locator (URL) from an object based on the user device interacting with the object, a connection with the user device;
 transmitting program code from the site to the user device, the program code enabling a user, via a graphical interface presented on the user device, to perform a task, wherein the task is independent of a cryptocurrency payment and wherein, on the user device, the program code transmits to a software module a request associated with the task, wherein the request comprises information about the task, and wherein the software module comprises a software module application programming interface that defines a protocol for communicating data between the program code and the software module and receives, at the program code, from the software module and via the software module application programming interface, authorized data, wherein the software module accesses or receives, based on the request, the authorized data from the user device or a network-based entity; and
 receiving, at the site, the authorized data from the user device.

       2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 performing the task in coordination with the site and based on the authorized data.

       3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authorized data can be used in at least part to complete the task.

       4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authorized data comprises one or more of (1) authorized payment data to pay for use of an item associated with the object or to purchase the item associated with object; and (2) personal data associated with a user.

       5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authorized data comprises authorized payment data.

       6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting of the program code from the site and the performing of the task occurs independent of a full application downloaded onto the user device.

       7. A device comprising:
 a processor;
 a near-field communication component; and
 a computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
 receiving a universal resource locator (URL) from an object based on the device interacting with the object via the near-field communication component;
 establishing, based on the URL, a connection with a site;
 receiving program code from the site, the program code enabling a user of the device to perform a task via a graphical interface, wherein the task is independent of a cryptocurrency payment;
 transmitting, from the program code, to a software module on the device, a request associated with the task, wherein the request comprises information about the task, and wherein the software module comprises a software module application programming interface that defines a protocol for communicating data between the program code and the software module; and
 receiving, at the program code, from the software module and via the software module application programming interface, authorized data for performing the task, wherein the software module accesses or receives, based on the request, the authorized data from the device or a network-based entity.

       8. The device of claim 7 , wherein receiving the program code does not include downloading a full application that is later viewable and selectable on the device.

       9. The device of claim 7 , wherein the computer-readable medium stores additional instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations further comprising:
 performing the task in coordination with the site and based on the authorized data.

       10. The device of claim 7 , wherein the authorized data can be used in at least part to complete the task.

       11. The device of claim 7 , wherein the authorized data comprises one or more of (1) authorized payment data to pay for use of an item associated with the object or to purchase the item associated with object; and (2) personal data associated with a user.

       12. A method comprising:
 establishing, based on a device receiving a universal resource locator (URL) from an object based on the device interacting with the object a connection between the device and a site as identified by the URL;
 transmitting, to the device and from the site, a program code, wherein a software module on the device is configured with an application programming interface that defines a protocol for communicating authorized data between the software module and the program code, wherein the device, based on the program code, presents a user interface, the user interface enabling a user to perform a task, wherein the task is independent of a cryptocurrency payment; and
 receiving, based on user interaction with the user interface and at the program code and at the site, authorized data for performing the task based on stored data retrieved from the device, wherein the authorized data is received at the program code according to the application programming interface.

       13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the program code does not comprise a full application that is downloaded on the device and viewable or selectable from a group of full applications downloaded on the device.

       14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the task comprises making a payment and wherein the authorized data comprises authorized payment data.

       15. The method of claim 12 , wherein the authorized data is retrieved from a memory configured on the device.

       16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the task comprises at least one of renting an item, registering for a program, opening a door, performing a physical function or a combination of different tasks.

       17. The method of claim 12 , wherein the object comprises one of a near-field communication tag a QR code or an image.

       18. The method of claim 12 , wherein the authorized data comprises one or more of a one-time use token used by the site for processing a payment, payment data, address data, encrypted data, personal contact data, personal identity data, and a confirmation that a network-based entity processed the payment.

       19. The method of claim 12 , wherein transmitting the program code from the site occurs independent of receiving a full application downloaded onto the device.
