Abstract
An asphaltic sheet comprising an asphaltic component including an asphalt binder and expandable graphite.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. An asphaltic composite sheet comprising:
(i) a first asphaltic layer including an asphalt binder composition and a flame retardant other than expandable graphite dispersed within the asphalt binder composition, said first asphaltic layer having first and second generally planar surfaces;
(ii) a fabric having first and second generally planar surfaces, said first planar surface of said fabric being in contact with the first planar surface of the first asphaltic layer;
(iii) a second asphaltic layer including an asphalt binder composition and a flame retardant other than expandable graphite dispersed within the asphalt binder composition, said second asphaltic layer having first and second generally planar surfaces, said first planar surface of said second asphaltic layer being in contact with the second planar surface of the fabric;
(iv) a concentrated region of expandable graphite at or near the second planar surface of the second asphaltic layer;
(v) a release film removably secured to said second planar surface of said first asphaltic layer; and
(vi) a polymeric layer laminated to said second planar surface of the second asphaltic layer so that the concentrated region of expandable graphite is disposed between the polymeric layer and the second planar surface of the second asphaltic layer.
2. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where said first and second asphaltic layers includes from about 0.5 to about 40 parts by weight of the flame retardant other than expandable graphite, per 100 parts by weight asphalt binder.
3. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where said first and second asphaltic layers includes from about 3 to about 20 parts by weight of the flame retardant other than expandable graphite, per 100 parts by weight asphalt binder.
4. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where said first and second asphaltic layers further includes a polymeric modifier dispersed within the asphalt binder.
5. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 4 , where the polymeric modifier is selected from the group consisting of polybutadiene, polyisoprene, styrene-butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene block copolymer, styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer, random styrene-isoprene, styrene-isoprene block copolymer, styrene-isoprene-butadiene block copolymer, random styrene-isoprene-butadiene, styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer, and chloroprene rubber.
6. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where the polymeric layer is a polypropylene layer.
7. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where said concentrated region of expandable graphite is formed by dropping expandable graphite onto the second planar surface of the second asphaltic layer.
8. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where said flame retardant other than expandable graphite is colemanite.
9. The asphaltic composite sheet of claim 1 , where said polymeric layer is a polyolefin layer.Cited by (0)
