Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention claimed is:

       1. A system comprising:
 a processor; and
a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
receive data associated with a social media content distribution event associated with a distribution of social media content on a social media site, wherein the social media content distribution event occurred in association with a game outcome determined for a play of a game which was displayed by a first display device, and
communicate data that results in a display, by a quantity of second display devices associated with a land-based gaming establishment and different from the first display device, of the social media content for a predetermined period of time, wherein at least one of a determination of a duration of the predetermined period of time is based on the occurrence of the social media content distribution event associated with the game outcome with different occurrences of social media content distribution events associated with different game outcomes resulting in different durations of the predetermined period of time and a determination of the quantity of second display devices is based on the occurrence of the social media content distribution event associated with the game outcome with different occurrences of social media content distribution events associated with different game outcomes resulting in different quantities of second display devices.

       2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the quantity of second display devices comprises a plurality of display devices associated with the land-based gaming establishment.

       3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the social media content comprises any of a first social media content component associated with the play of the game, and a second social media content component associated with an activity occurring at a land-based gaming establishment that is independent of any play of any game.

       4. The system of claim 3 , wherein any of the first social media content component and the second social media content component comprises any of: a still image, a video clip, a sound clip, an audio-visual clip, text, transaction information, location information, application usage information, event attendance information, and biometric information.

       5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined period of time comprises a first duration responsive to the social media content distribution event occurring in association with a first player and the predetermined period of time comprises a second, different duration responsive to the social media content distribution event occurring in association with a second, different player.

       6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined period of time comprises a first duration responsive to the social media content distribution event occurring in association with a first game outcome determined for the play of the game and the predetermined period of time comprises a second, different duration responsive to the social media content distribution event occurring in association with a second, different game outcome determined for the play of the game.

       7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined period of time comprises a first duration responsive to the social media content distribution event occurring in association with first social media content and the predetermined period of time comprises a second, different duration responsive to the social media content distribution event occurring in association with second, different social media content.

       8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device comprises a plurality of further instructions that, when executed by the processor responsive to the receipt of data associated with the game outcome, cause the processor to determine the social media content.

       9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the social media content is in addition to any award associated with the game outcome.

       10. A gaming system comprising:
 a processor; and
a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor for a play of a game, cause the processor to:
 determine a game outcome,
communicate data that results in a display, by a display device, of the determined game outcome,
responsive to an election stored in association with an account of a user to activate a social media award feature, without determining any monetary award associated with the determined game outcome, determine a non-monetary award associated with the determined game outcome, the non-monetary award being associated with a distribution of social media content on a social media site, and
responsive to no election stored in association with any account of the user to activate the social media award feature:
without determining any non-monetary award associated with the determined game outcome, determine a monetary award associated with the determined game outcome, the monetary award being independent of any non-monetary award associated with any distribution of any social media content on any social media site, and
communicate data that results in a display, by the display device, of the determined monetary award.
