System, method and apparatus for location based delivery of determined pertinent data
Abstract
A system, method and apparatus for detecting the presence of a portable computing device (a smart phone device) in an area of proximity to a vendor to determine relevant pertinent information. A beacon device at a retail location establishes communication with a user's smart phone device which detection is then send to a remotely located server. The remotely located server determines if the detected portable computing device is associated with a predefined category of user. Contingent upon the category of user determination, a determination is made regarding information pertinent to the user. The pertinent information is then caused to be sent to the user's smart phone device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. A beacon detection system for detecting the presence of a user in proximity to a retail store to provide information to the user when the user is located in proximity to the retail store, comprising:
a server having a computer processor and at least one database;
a beacon component, having a computer processor operably connected to the server for sending information relating to a detected user device to the server, the beacon component configured to be mounted in proximity to the retail store, wherein the beacon component is operative to detect the presence of a user device in proximity to the retail store, and whereby upon reception of detected user device information sent from the beacon component, the processor of the server is configured to:
determine an identity of a user associated with the detected user device; and
determine one or more items associated with the retail store that match a user's dwelling based on analytics performed by the server on user information stored in the database based on a dwelling maintenance schedule associated with the user, while the user is located in proximity to the retail store.
2. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the processor of the server is further configured to determine if the detected user device is associated with one or more predefined groups of users.
3. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 2 , wherein the one or more predefined groups of users are members of an insurance company.
4. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the processor of the server is further operative to determine product availability for purchase of the one or more items that match the user's dwelling while the user is located in proximity to the retail store.
5. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 4 , wherein the processor of the server is further configured to provide a purchase notification to the user if the one or more items that match the user's dwelling are determined to be available for purchase in the retail store.
6. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 5 , wherein the processor of the server is further configured to cause a signal to be transmitted from the beacon component with pertinent information to the user device indicating product availability of the one or more items determined to be associated with the retail store and determined to match the user's dwelling.
7. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 4 , wherein the processor of the server is further configured to determine a packaging size associated with the one or more items determined to be associated with the retail store and determined to match the user's dwelling.
8. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 7 , wherein the processor of the server is further configured to determine whether a vehicle associated with the user can accommodate the determined packaging size of the one or more items associated with the user's dwelling.
9. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the user device is a smart phone.
10. The beacon detection system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the beacon component is positioned in a parking lot that is in proximity to the retail store.
11. A computer-implemented method for detecting the presence of a user located in a parking lot that is in proximity to a retail store and for providing information to the user prior to the user entering the retail store, comprising:
positioning a beacon component, having a computer processor operably connected to a computer server connected to a database of one or more predefined groups of users, in proximity to the retail store;
detecting, by the beacon component, the presence of a user smart phone device located in proximity to the retail store;
determining, by the computer server, an identity of a user associated with the detected user smart phone device;
determining, by the computer server, one or more items associated with a user's dwelling based on analytics performed by the computer server on user information stored in a database based on a dwelling maintenance schedule associated with the user, while the user is located in proximity to the retail store.
12. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 11 , wherein the one or more predefined groups of users are members of an insurance company.
13. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 11 , wherein the beacon component is positioned in a parking lot associated with the retail store.
14. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 11 , further including the step of determining, by the computer server, product availability for purchase of the one or more items that match the user's dwelling while the user is located in proximity to the retail store.
15. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 14 , further including the step of providing, by the beacon component, notification to the user if the one or more items that match the user's dwelling are determined available for purchase in the retail store.
16. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 14 , further including the step of providing, by the beacon component, a signal with pertinent information to the user device indicating product availability of the one or more items determined to be associated with the retail store and determined to match the user's dwelling.
17. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 11 , further including the step of determining, by the computer server, a packaging size associated with the one or more items determined to be associated with the retail store and determined to match the user's dwelling.
18. The computer-implemented method as recited in claim 17 , further including the step of determining, by the computer server, whether a vehicle associated with the user can accommodate the determined packaging size of the one or more items associated with the user's dwelling.
19. A beacon detection system for detecting the presence of a user in proximity to a retail store to provide information to the user when the user is located in proximity to the retail store, comprising:
a server having a computer processor and at least one database;
a beacon component, having a computer processor operably connected to the server for sending information relating to a detected user device to the server, the beacon component configured to be mounted in proximity to the retail store, wherein the beacon component is operative to detect the presence of a user device in proximity to the retail store, and whereby upon reception of detected user device information sent from the beacon component, the computer processor of the server is configured to:
determine an identity of a user associated with the detected user device; and
determine one or more items associated with the retail store that match a user's dwelling based on analytics performed by the server on user information stored in the database based on a dwelling maintenance schedule associated with the user, and product availability for purchase of the one or more items, while the user is located in proximity to the retail store.Cited by (0)
