Composition for suppressing or improving eye fatigue

Abstract

An object of the present invention is to provide a composition for preventing visual dysfunction caused by exposure to light, such as so-called blue light. The present invention provides a composition comprising a lactic acid bacterium as an active ingredient for use in suppressing or improving conditions caused by retinal inflammation resulting from light damage. Eye discomfort is an exemplary condition caused by retinal inflammation resulting from light damage.

The invention claimed is: 
     
       1. A method for reducing stiffness of the shoulder or lower back, or dull headache, comprising or orally administering an effective amount of a lactic acid bacterium to a human in need thereof, wherein the lactic acid bacterium is  Lactobacillus paracasei  strain KW3110, and wherein stiffness of the shoulder or lower back, or dull headache, is caused by use of one or more Visual Display Terminals (VDTs). 
     
     
       2. The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the human has eye fatigue. 
     
     
       3. The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the eye fatigue is induced by light stimulation. 
     
     
       4. The method according to  claim 3 , wherein the light causing the light stimulation has a wavelength of 380 nm to 530 nm. 
     
     
       5. The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the eye fatigue results from light causing light damage, and wherein the light causing the light damage has a wavelength of 380 nm to 530 nm. 
     
     
       6. The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the lactic acid bacterium is provided in the form of a food. 
     
     
       7. The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the lactic acid bacterium is provided in the form of a supplement. 
     
     
       8. A method for reducing stiffness of the shoulder or lower back, or dull headache, comprising orally administering an effective amount of a lactic acid bacterium to a human in need hereof, wherein the lactic acid bacterium is  Lactobacillus paracasei  strain KW3110, and wherein stiffness of the shoulder or lower back, or dull headache, is due to eye fatigue induced by use of one or more VDTs.
