Collectible commemorative display ticket containing film clip

Abstract

Collectible, rectangular ticket-type display device having a window in which is mounted a transparency type film frame or multi-frame clip for see-through type viewing. The display device preferably includes security and/or authentication indicia, and is fabricated from archival-quality materials. The ticket is formed from a single folded sheet of heavy paper or plastic material and scored along one edge for a fold to define a front and back panel. The film frame or clip is secured in an envelope or packet of non-bleed, non-yellowing transparent polyester plastic which is mounted to one inner face of the ticket panels. Preferably the ticket window is of sufficient size to exhibit the sprocket holes of the film frame or clip for authenticity. The transparency images may be of a motion picture or performance event such as a concert, sporting or historical event, and may be reproduced from a film positive or negative, or from video tape. Methods for manufacture of the collectible ticket and the archival envelope are disclosed. The collectible ticket may be retained for archival purposes or for display in an album having special plastic pages having a plurality of pocket-type sleeves for retainingly engaging the tickets. A transportable sleeve is also disclosed.

We claim:  
     
         1 . A collectible ticket-type display device comprising in operative combination: 
 a) a planar ticket having a front face surface and a back surface, a first-longitudinal axis, and a second, transverse axis;    b) said ticket being formed of at least one sheet of material, and having at least one aperture therethrough to form a viewing window therein;    c) a film frame or multi-frame film clip mounted in association with said window so that the image on said film frame or clip may be viewed by light transmission therethrough;    d) said film being sandwiched between protective layers of transparent plastic;    e) at least one of said front or back surfaces of said ticket including indicia relating to said film frame or clip selected from information relating to the image on said film, authentication indicia, security indicia, serial number, limited edition number, or combinations thereof;    f) said ticket forms a collectible display device retainingly engaging a transparency image sandwiched in plastic to protect the film against scratching or deterioration with handling.    
     
     
         2 . A collectible ticket-display device as in    claim 1    wherein: 
 a) said ticket is generally rectangular; and  
 b said window is sized to reveal the sprocket holes on at least one side of said film frame or clip to assist in authentication of the nature of the film frame or clip.  
 
     
     
         3 . A collectible ticket-display device as in    claim 1    wherein: 
 a) said ticket is made of a single sheet;  
 b) said sheet includes a central longitudinal fold line dividing said sheet into two equal rectangular panels, a first, front panel and a second, back panel, each panel having an interior surface and an exterior surface, the exterior surface of the front panel forming the front surface of the ticket, and the exterior surface of the back panel forming the back surface of the ticket;  
 c) said sheet is folded along said longitudinal fold line;  
 d) each of said panels includes an aperture located in the respective panels so that upon folding of the sheet along the fold line to bring the two panels together, the two apertures are cooperatingly aligned;  
 e) said film frame or clip is secured to the interior surface of at least one panel aligned with said window to be viewable; and  
 f) said interior surfaces of said panel are secured together to form a unitary ticket with said indicia present on said exterior surfaces.  
 
     
     
         4 . A display device as in    claim 1    wherein; 
 a) said panels are rectangular with an aspect ratio of length to width on the order of from about 5:1 to 2:1, and at least some of said indicia are disposed on at least one face adjacent one end thereof, said indicia identifying at least one of a studio, a location, and/or date of the event commemorated in the film frame or clip visible in said window.  
 
     
     
         5 . A film envelope assembly for archiving and display of a film frame or multi-frame clip comprising in operative combinations: 
 a) a first, lower, protective transparent plastic sheet;    b) a second, upper protective transparent plastic sheet coordinatingly aligned with said first protective sheet;    c) a film frame or multi-frame clip secured along at least one marginal edge between said protective plastic sheets;    d) said protective plastic sheets being wider than at least one of a width or length dimension of said film frame or multi-frame clip; and    e) said first and second protective plastic sheets are secured together along at least one marginal edge, and adapted for insertion and securement to a commemorative display device so that at least one frame is viewable.    
     
     
         6 . A film envelope as in    claim 5    wherein: 
 a) said film comprises an approximately two-frame clip; and  
 b) said first and second plastic sheets are the same size.  
 
     
     
         7 . A film envelope as in    claim 6    wherein: 
 a) said two frame clip comprises a center frame flanked by approximately ½ a leading frame and ½ a trailing frame.  
 
     
     
         8 . A film envelope as in    claim 5    wherein: 
 a) said plastic sheets are sealed to each other with glue strips extending inwardly from at least one side margin; and  
 b) said film frame or multi-frame clip overlaps into said glue strip and is secured thereby.  
 
     
     
         9 . A film envelope as in    claim 8    wherein: 
 a) two glue strips are disposed extending inwardly from opposed side margins.  
 
     
     
         10 . A film envelope as in    claim 5    which includes: 
 a) at least one pressure sensitive glue strip on an exterior surface of one of said plastic sheets adjacent a marginal edge;  
 b) a carrier strip having at least one side treated with a release coating;  
 c) said envelope is releasably mounted in said carrier strip by means of said exterior glue strip.  
 
     
     
         11 . Method of production of a commemorative collectible display device comprising the steps of: 
 a) providing an archival protective envelope containing a film frame or multi-frame film clip between sheets of protective transparent plastic sheet material;    b) providing a commemorative display piece comprising a first front panel and a second back panel, each panel having an outer face comprising a front face and a back face respectively and each having an inner face, and a window in each panel, said windows being aligned;    c) mounting said protective envelope to at least one of said inner faces of said panels with at least one film frame aligned to be viewed through said window;    d) sealing said inner faces of said panels together to form a unitary display device.    
     
     
         12 . Method as in    claim 11    wherein: 
 a) said protective envelope is provided releasably secured to a carrier strip;  
 b) said envelope is removed from said strip preparatory to mounting it to said panel inner face.  
 
     
     
         13 . Method as in    claim 12    wherein: 
 a) said protective envelope is one of a plurality of envelopes arranged in file on said carrier strip in a label matrix with each packet separated from adjacent packets along said strip.  
 
     
     
         14 . An album assembly comprising in operative combination: 
 a) a front and back cover and a spine member adjoining said corners along at least one marginal edge of each of said covers;    b) means associated with said spine member for retaining pages between said covers;    c) at least some of said pages including means for removably retaining commemorative display tickets of the type of    claim 1   .    
     
     
         15 . A carrier for commemorative display tickets of    claim 1    comprising in operative combination: 
 a) a heavy plastic pouch comprising front and back sheets joined adjacent their marginal edges and having at least one marginal edge unsealed to permit insertion therein of said commemorative display ticket of    claim 1   ; and  
 b) means associated with one of said sealed marginal edges to permit retention in an album.  
 
     
     
         16 . A carrier as in    claim 15    wherein: 
 a) said retention means comprises at least one hole to permit retentive engagement with a ring member associated with the spine of said album.
