Blanket clip

Abstract

A new and improved apparatus is disclosed to ensure that a beach towel or beach blanket will remain on the ground and will not be blown around by the wind. The present invention would comprise two major portions, which would include a stake portion and a clip portion. The clip would be affixed to the top of the stake portion of the present invention. The clip would normally be in a closed position, but could be opened by having a user depressing the handles of the clip portion together. A user would then placed an edge of the desired towel or blanket within the clip and then release the handles of the clip, effectively securing the towel or blanket to the present invention.

What I claim as my invention is:  
     
         1 . A blanket holding apparatus comprising: 
 (a) a stake having two ends, a top end and a bottom end, the bottom end of the stake ending in a sharp point,    (b) a clip attached to the top end of the stake, the clip having gripping means for tightly gripping a piece of fabric.    
     
     
         2 . A blanket holding apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein the gripping means for tightly gripping a piece of fabric further comprises: 
 (a) a pair of clamps, a first clamp and a second clamp, the first clamp and the second clamp each having two ends, a first end and a second end,  
 (b) a bar located in between the first clamp and the second clamp,  
 (c) a mechanism located in between the first clamp and the second clamp, the mechanism attached to the first clamp and the second clamp so as to make the first clamp and the second camp be rotatably attached to the bar, whereby the mechanism forces the first end of the first clamp to be forced against the first end of the second clamp,  
 (d) whereby the second end of the first clamp and the second end of the second clamp would form a pair of handles, whereby a user could push the pair of handles inward to allow the user to place an object in between the first end of the first clamp and the first end of the second clamp.  
 
     
     
         3 . A blanket holding apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein the stake would be approximately six and one-half inches in length.
