Abstract

A method for producing a colored adhesive caulking material by: (a) providing in a resealable container a caulk forming composition which can be thickened by contact with a pigmented composition; (b) adding a pigmented composition of a predetermined color to the container; and (c) shaking the container, thereby thickening the caulk forming composition to form a colored adhesive caulking material.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method for producing a colored adhesive caulking material comprising:
 (a) providing in a resealable container a caulk forming composition that can be thickened by contact with a pigmented composition; (b) adding a pigmented composition of a predetermined color to said caulk forming composition in said resealable container; and (c) shaking said resealable container of step (b), thereby thickening said caulk forming composition to form a colored adhesive caulking material.

2 . The method of claim 1 in which said resealable container of step (b) is shaken on a vibratory mixer.

3 . The method of claim 1 in which the pigmented composition comprises a water-based paint.

4 . The method of claim 1 in which the resealable container comprises a tube and a plunger.

5 . The method of claim 2 in which the vibratory mixer comprises a standard paint shaker.

6 . The method of claim 4 in which the tube comprises a standard caulk tube.

7 . The method of claim 1 in which the caulk forming composition comprises an aqueous polymeric resin, a plasticizer, a surface-active agent, a filler and a pH modifier.

8 . The method of claim 4 in which the plunger is controlled by means of a removable “T” handle.

9 . The method of claim 8 in which the removable “T” handle is attached to the plunger by means of a twist and lock system.

10 . The method of claim 8 in which the removable “T” handle is attached to the plunger by means of threads capable of engaging a threaded socket on the plunger.

11 . A caulk forming composition comprising an aqueous polymeric resin, a plasticizer, a surface-active agent, a filler and a pH modifier.

12 . The caulk forming composition of claim 11 which further comprises a thickening agent.

13 . The caulk forming composition of claim 12 which further comprises a glycol solvent.

14 . The caulk forming composition of claim 13 which further comprises a biocide.

15 . The caulk forming composition of claim 11 in which the aqueous polymeric resin comprises an acrylic resin.

16 . The caulk forming composition of claim 12 in which the thickening agent comprises ammonium hydroxide.

17 . The caulk forming composition of claim 11 in which the filler comprises a fumed silica.

18 . A colored adhesive caulking material produced by a process comprising
 (a) providing in a resealable container a caulk forming composition that can be thickened by contact with a pigmented composition; (b) adding a pigmented composition of a predetermined color to said caulk forming composition in said resealable container; and (c) shaking said resealable container after step (b), thereby thickening said caulk forming composition to form a colored adhesive caulking material.

19 . The colored adhesive caulking material of claim 18 in which the pigmented composition comprises a water-based paint.

20 . The colored adhesive caulking material of claim 18 in which the caulk forming composition comprises an aqueous polymeric resin, a plasticizer, a surface-active agent, a filler and a pH modifier.

21 . The colored adhesive caulking material of claim 20 which further comprises a thickening agent in the caulk forming composition.

22 . The colored adhesive caulking material of claim 21 which further comprises a glycol solvent.
