Abstract

A clip mechanism for supporting a flexible storage receptacle on a portion of a chair. The apparatus has a first clip member mountable to the portion of the chair and a second clip member connectable to the first clip member. A coupling is employed for connecting a first member to a second member, whereby the first member and the second member are positioned in a spaced apart relationship when coupled.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1 . An apparatus for supporting a storage receptacle on a portion of a chair, the apparatus comprising:
a first member mountable to said portion of said chair; a second member connectable adjacent to said first member; and a coupling for connecting said first member to said second member, wherein said first member and said second member are positioned in a spaced apart relationship to accommodate a portion of said receptacle.

2 . An apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a slot located between said members for receiving said portion of said storage receptacle, whereby said storage receptacle is supported adjacent to said chair.

3 . An apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein said slot occupies a substantial portion of a space between said members.

4 . An apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said coupling further comprises an interengaging first connector and second connector for releaseably securing said first member to said second member.

5 . An apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein said first connector comprises a resilient arm.

6 . An apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein said resilient arm has a first abutment member.

7 . An apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein said first abutment member is a wedge.

8 . An apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein said second connector comprises a second abutment member engageable with said first abutment member.

9 . An apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein said second abutment member is a wedge.

10 . An apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein said first connector is mounted on said first member and said second connector is mounted on said second member.

11 . An apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein said first connector is mounted on said second member and said second connector is mounted on said first member.

12 . An apparatus according to claim I wherein said coupling further comprises a tongue and groove apparatus for releaseably securing said first member to said second member.

13 . An apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said portion of said chair is an upright portion.

14 . An apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said portion of said chair is an underside of a seat portion.

15 . An apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein said first member is a frame mountable to said upright portion.

16 . An apparatus according to claim 15 , wherein said frame further comprises a pair of flaps connected by a bridge member.

17 . An apparatus according to claim 16 , wherein said pair of flaps are inwardly disposed with respect to one another.

18 . An apparatus according to claim 17 , wherein said pair of flaps are resilient.

19 . A method of using the apparatus of claim 1 comprising the steps of:
 mounting said first member to said portion of said chair;
coupling said second member to said first member; and
coupling said storage receptacle to said apparatus.

20 . A method according to claim 19 further comprising the step of mating a surface of said storage receptacle to a corresponding surface of said chair for retaining said surface adjacent thereto.

21 . A method according to claim 20 , wherein adhesive is employed for retaining said surface to said chair.

22 . A method according to claim 20 , wherein static electricity is employed for retaining said surface to said chair.

23 . An apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said first member further comprises a surface area having indicia for conveying information to surrounding spectators.

24 . An apparatus according to claim 1 herein said second member comprises a surface area having indicia for conveying information to surrounding spectators.

25 . An apparatus according to claim, 1 wherein said storage receptacle her comprises a surface area having indicia for displaying information to surrounding spectators.

26 . An apparatus according to claim 25 , wherein said storage receptacle is a flexible bag.

27 . An apparatus according to claim 26 , wherein said flexible bag includes a separate pouch for containing a predetermined item.
