Abstract
A system for treating contaminated media is provided. In the process, contaminants are removed from the media using a photocatalytic process operating in an aqueous phase.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for treating contaminated soil comprising:
spraying contaminated soil with water; collecting water bearing contaminants; adding a photocatalytic slurry to the water bearing contaminants; and exposing the photocatalytic slurry with the water bearing contaminants to electromagnetic radiation.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein collecting water bearing contaminants comprises pumping subterranean water from the water table.
3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising adding a conditioner to the photocatalytic slurry.
4 . The method of claim 3 further comprising adding an irreversible electron acceptor to the photocatalytic slurry.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein exposing the photocatalytic slurry with the water bearing contaminants to electromagnetic radiation comprises exposing the photocatalytic slurry with the water bearing contaminants to ultraviolet radiation.
6 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
adding a hole scavenger to the photocatalytic slurry to enhance reduction.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
