Abstract
A mounting system for supporting computing devices in a rack of the type having at least two vertical posts. The mounting system includes four mounting bases, each base includes an elongated strip having a flange at one end thereof for attachment to a post. Each strip has a generally planar section that is vertically oriented when the flange is attached to a post, and a curved section at top and bottom edges of the planar section which curve in a direction away from the flange.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A mounting system for supporting computing devices in a rack of the type having two vertical posts, comprising four mounting bases, each base including an elongated strip having a flange at one end thereof for attachment to a post, each strip having a generally planar section that is vertically oriented when the flange is attached to a post, and a curved section at top and bottom edges of said planar section which curve in a direction away from said flange.
2 . The mounting system of claim 1 , further including an L-shaped bracket comprising an elongated first strip having a width which can be accommodated between the curved sections on said mounting bases, to be generally vertically oriented when said mounting bases are attached to a post, and an elongated second strip that is generally horizontally disposed and extends from said first strip to form a support surface for a computing device.
3 . The mounting system of claim 2 wherein said second strip has a curvature adjacent said first strip that forms a ridge along the length of the second strip upon which a computing device rests when supported by the bracket.
4 . A rack support system for computing devices, comprising:
a pair of vertically oriented posts spaced from one another; and a plurality of mounting systems attached to said posts at different vertical positions for supporting respective computing devices in a vertically stacked arrangement between said posts, each of said mounting systems comprising four mounting elongated bases that are mounted in pairs on opposite sides of a respective post in a horizontally oriented direction and parallel to one another, each base including an elongated strip having a flange at one end thereof for attachment to a post, each strip having a generally planar section that is vertically oriented when the flange is attached to a post, and a curved section at top and bottom edges of said planar section which curve in a direction away from said flange.
5 . The support system of claim 4 , wherein at least one of said mounting systems further includes a pair of L-shaped brackets, each of which is accommodated in a pair of mounting bases mounted on opposite sides of a given post, each said bracket comprising an elongated first strip having a width that is accommodated between the curved sections on the mounting-bases, in a generally vertical orientation, and an elongated second strip that is generally horizontally disposed and extends from said first strip to form a support surface for a computing device.
6 . The support system of claim 5 wherein said second strip has a curvature adjacent said first strip that forms a ridge along the length of the second strip upon which a computing device rests when supported by the bracket.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
