Abstract
Apparatus and methods for conveying a user across snow, sand, or similar media. The apparatus may include a snowskate or snow scooter comprising an elongated glide plate having an upper surface with a stand-on area for receiving the feet of a user and a lower surface for slidingly but controllably engaging snow. The glide plate also may have front and back portions that are rounded and/or bent upwards. The apparatus also may include wheels, a handle, and/or a brake.

An article for conveying a human being across the surface, comprising: a sheet of rigid material of sufficient size to accommodate use by a human being, said sheet being elongated and having a longitudinal axis, and an upper surface for providing thereon support for a user, and a central section having a substantially constant width throughout; and a forward end portion bent upwardly, and a rear end portion bent upwardly, and a lower surface shaped with a series of grooves therein, said grooves having a constant width as they extend along said lower surface parallel to the longitudinal axis of said sheet, and said grooves offset from said longitudinal axis.
