Abstract

The use of [R-(Z)]-α-(methoxyimino)-α-(1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl)acetonitrile or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the treatment of psychosis or other neuropsychiatric symptoms.

1 . A method for the treatment of psychosis or other neuropsychiatric symptoms comprising administering to the patient an effective, non-toxic amount of of [R-(Z)]-α-(methoxyimino)-α-(1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl)acetonitrile or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.  
     
     
         2 . A method according to  claim 1  wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is the monohydrochloride.  
     
     
         3 . A method for the treatment of psychosis or other neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients with Alzheimer's Disease with severe behavioural disturbance comprising administering to the patient an effective, non-toxic amount of of [R-(Z)]-α-(methoxyimino)-α-(1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl)acetonitrile or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.  
     
     
         4 . A method according to  claim 3  wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is the monohydrochloride.
