Tooth whitening substances

Abstract

A tooth whitening substance formed into a thin layer is provided. The tooth whitening substance includes a polyox resin and a tooth whitening active. The polyox resin adheres the thin layer to a plurality of teeth for a sufficient time to allow the tooth whitening active to act upon the plurality of teeth.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A tooth whitening substance formed into a thin layer, comprising: 
 a polyox resin and a tooth whitening active, wherein said poloyox resin adheres said thin layer to a plurality of teeth for a sufficient time to allow said tooth whitening active to act upon the plurality of teeth.    
     
     
         2 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 1 , wherein said tooth whitening active is selected from the group consisting of peroxides, metal chlorites, perborates, percarbonates, peroxyacids, and combinations thereof.  
     
     
         3 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 2 , wherein said tooth whitening active is hydrogen peroxide.  
     
     
         4 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 1 , wherein the amount of said tooth whitening active is between about 0.5% and about 20% by weight of the tooth whitening substance.  
     
     
         5 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 1 , further comprising water.  
     
     
         6 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 1 , wherein said thin layer has a length between about 2 cm and about 12 cm.  
     
     
         7 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 8 , wherein said thin layer has a width between about 4 cm and about 9 cm.  
     
     
         8 . A tooth whitening substance formed into a thin layer, comprising: 
 a polyox resin and a tooth whitening active, wherein said poloyox resin adheres said thin layer to a plurality of teeth for a sufficient time to allow said tooth whitening active to act upon the plurality of teeth; and    a material selected from the group consisting of glycerin, sorbitol, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and a polyhydric alcohols.    
     
     
         9 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 8 , wherein said tooth whitening active is selected from the group consisting of peroxides, metal chlorites, perborates, percarbonates, peroxyacids, and combinations thereof.  
     
     
         10 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 9 , wherein said tooth whitening active is hydrogen peroxide.  
     
     
         11 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 8 , wherein the amount of said tooth whitening active is between about 0.5% and about 20% by weight of the tooth whitening substance.  
     
     
         12 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 8 , wherein the amount of said material is between about 10% and about 95% by weight of the tooth whitening substance.  
     
     
         13 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 8 , further comprising water.  
     
     
         14 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 8 , wherein said thin layer has a length between about 2 cm and about 12 cm.  
     
     
         15 . The tooth whitening substance of  claim 14 , wherein said thin layer has a width between about 4 cm and about 9 cm.
