Fluid impermeable cabinet liners

Abstract

A liner for positioning in a cabinet or area to collect any fluids that either intentionally or unintentionally are released in the area. The liner generally includes a substantially planar bottom portion with a plurality of upwardly extending walls to substantially enclose a volume on most sides. The upwardly extending walls are substantially affixed to the liner and each other. Moreover, the planar bottom and the walls are also formed of a substantially water impermeable material, such that a fluid is collected within the liner and not allowed to escape. Moreover, the liner may be customized to fit any particular cabinet or area. For example, a portion of the planar bottom may be cut out and a wall extending from a cut-out portion to substantially surround any obstructions in a cabinet area. Moreover, a modular liner may be formed, which includes a plurality of liner portions that can be fixed together in a substantially water impermeable manner. Additionally, an internal area of the liner may be sectioned off to provide a plurality of portions within the liner to be separated from the other liner portions to protect a particular area or collect water in a particular area.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A liner for a substantially enclosed area, through which a fluid is generally communicated, the liner comprising: 
 a first substantially planar portion adapted to substantially cover a surface;    at least a first wall extending from said planar portion to substantially enclose a selected volume;    wherein said first planar portion and said first wall are substantially fluid impermeable for a selected period of time, such that a fluid that is collected within the liner is contained in the liner and not allowed to escape.    
     
     
         2 . The liner of  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a second member including a second substantially planar portion and at least one second member wall extending from said substantially planar portion;    wherein said second member interconnects with said first wall to form an assembly that is substantially fluid impermeable.    
     
     
         2 . The liner of  claim 2 , wherein said second member further includes: 
 a catch extending from said second member wall to engage said first wall while said second member is assembled with said first substantially planar portion.    
     
     
         3 . The liner of  claim 2 , wherein said second substantially planar portion is smaller than said first substantially planar portion.  
     
     
         4 . The liner of  claim 2 , including a plurality of said second members; 
 wherein a selected sub-plurality of said second liners may be interconnected to each other and to said first substantially planar portion.    
     
     
         5 . The liner of  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a modular portion to engage at least a portion of said first wall;    wherein said modular portion is engageable with the portion of said first wall to increase the enclosed selected volume.    
     
     
         6 . The liner of  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a modular portion to engage at least a portion of said first wall;    wherein said selected enclosed volume includes an area less than an area of said first substantially planar portion and defining a void;    wherein said modular portion is operable to engage said first wall to substantially cover the void.    
     
     
         7 . A liner system to cover a selected area of a cabinet and form a substantially water tight volume, the liner system comprising: 
 a first member, including: 
 a first substantially planar portion defining a first area adapted to substantially cover a surface;  
 at least a first wall extending from said planar portion to substantially enclose a selected volume;  
   a second member, including: 
 a second substantially planar portion defining a second area adapted to substantially cover a surface;  
 at least a second wall extending from said second substantially planar portion to substantially enclose a selected volume;  
   a catch operable to interconnect said first member and said second member;    wherein when said catch is engaged a fluid is caught and contained within at least one of said first member and said second member.    
     
     
         8 . The liner system of  claim 7 , further comprising: 
 a plurality of at least one of said first members and said second members;    wherein a selected area is covered when the plurality of said first members and said second members are engaged.    
     
     
         9 . The liner system of  claim 7 , wherein said first area and said second area are substantially similar.  
     
     
         10 . The liner system of  claim 7 , further comprising: 
 a modular portion including a modular planar portion and at least one modular wall extending from said planar portion;    wherein said modular portion is operable to engage at least one of said first wall and said second wall to increase an area of coverage to be greater than at least one of said first area and said second area.    
     
     
         11 . The liner system of  claim 7 , wherein said catch extends from at least one of said first wall and said second wall to engage the other of the first wall and the second wall.  
     
     
         12 . The liner system of  claim 7 , wherein said catch includes a member selectively coupled to said first wall and said second wall.  
     
     
         13 . The liner system of  claim 7 , wherein said first wall is integrally formed with said first planar portion.  
     
     
         14 . The liner system of  claim 7 , wherein said second wall is integrally formed with said second planar portion.  
     
     
         15 . A system to contain a fluid within a selected area, comprising: 
 a first liner including: 
 a first surface defining a first area;  
 a first containment member extending from said first surface;  
   a second liner including: 
 a second surface defining a second are;  
 a second containment member extending from said second surface;  
   a catch operable to interconnect said first member and said second member;    wherein said first member and said second member contain a fluid disposed within said first area and said second area;    wherein when said catch is engaged an assembled liner is operable to contain a fluid in an assembled area substantially equivalent to both said first area and said second area.    
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein said first liner and said second liner are formed of a substantially non-corrosive metal.  
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein said catch is substantially removable from at least one of said first liner and said second liner.  
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein said catch extends from at least one of said first wall and said second wall.  
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 15 , further comprising a plurality of at least one of said first liner and said second liner, wherein said plurality of said first liner and said second liner are interconnected to define the assembled area.  
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 15 , further comprising: 
 a cap member;    wherein said cap member engages at least one of said first liner and said second liner to increase at least one of said first area and said second area.
