Portable computer system including detachable handheld media storage and playback device

Abstract

A portable computer system in accordance with one embodiment of a present invention includes a portable computer and a recorded media storage and playback device adapted to be electrically and mechanically connected to one another.

I claim:  
     
         1 . A portable computer, comprising: 
 a main housing;    a keyboard and a display associated with the main housing; and    a handle associated with the main housing and including a data connector and a mechanical connector.    
     
     
         2 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the data connector comprises a USB connector.  
     
     
         3 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the mechanical connector comprises a latch that is biased to a lock position.  
     
     
         4 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 3 , wherein the latch includes a button that, when depressed, moves the latch to an unlock position.  
     
     
         5 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the handle defines a surface that faces away from the main housing and the data connector and mechanical connector are associated with the surface.  
     
     
         6 . A portable computer, comprising: 
 a main housing;    a keyboard carried by the main housing and a display associated with the main housing; and    a handle integral with the main housing and including a data connector and a mechanical connector.    
     
     
         7 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein the data connector comprises a USB connector.  
     
     
         8 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein the mechanical connector comprises a latch that is biased to a lock position.  
     
     
         9 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein the latch includes a button that, when depressed, moves the latch to an unlock position.  
     
     
         10 . A portable computer as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein the handle defines a surface that faces away from the main housing and the data connector and mechanical connector are associated with the surface.
