Prescented and custom scented card insert

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a device sized for insertion into an inner tube of a roll of paper towels or toilet paper comprising a insert card absorb a fragrance and which is bendable, the insert allowing fragrance to emit by evaporation from the insert into the air and an outer packaging for containing the insert card, the packaging being a substantially impervious moisture and odor brrier.

1 . A device sized for insertion into an inner tube of a roll of paper towels or toilet paper comprising: 
 a insert card capable of absorbing a fragrance and which is bendable, the insert card allowing fragrance to emit by evaporation from the insert into the air;    outer packaging for containing the insert card, the packaging being a substantially impervious moisture and odor barrier.    
   
   
       2 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the outer packaging is perforated at opposite ends such that the opposite ends may be easily torn from the outer packaging.  
   
   
       3 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the insert card is a rectangularshaped material folded in half upon itself and opposing edges of which are adhered together with an adhesive such that the insert card forms a tube.  
   
   
       4 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the insert card is adhered to the outer packaging with an adhesive.  
   
   
       5 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the insert includes a plurality of perforated lines extending generally parallel to an edge of the insert; the perforated lines allowing the insert to more easily conform to the shape of the inner tube and existing spindle as well as allowing a metering of the product by tearing along a perforation line to create small sections.  
   
   
       6 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the insert is printed with a graphic motif.  
   
   
       7 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the insert has a die-cut shape and/or die-cut perforations.  
   
   
       8 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the insert is presented with a fragrance formulation.  
   
   
       9 . The insert of  claim 8  in which the fragrance formulation is applied to the insert at a load of about 0.09 gm/in 2 .  
   
   
       10 . The insert of  claim 8  in which the fragrance formulation includes at least one of evaporation modifiers, enhancers or retardants to control the evaporation process.  
   
   
       11 . The insert of  claim 10  in which if evaporation enhancers are used, the evaporation enhancer includes denatured alcohol (39C).  
   
   
       12 . The insert of  claim 8  in which if evaporation retardants are used, the evaporation retardants include dipropyleneglycol (DPG) or diethylphthylate (DEP).  
   
   
       13 . The insert of  claim 10  in which polymers are added to the fragrance formulation to thicken the coating and achieve a heavier coating weight.  
   
   
       14 . The insert of  claim 8  in which a film is applied over the insert after the fragrance has been applied to the insert; the film being made from a material through which the fragrance can evaporate; the film retarding, or otherwise modifying, the evaporation process of the fragrance from the insert.  
   
   
       15 . The insert of  claim 14  in which the film comprises plastisizing agents.  
   
   
       16 . The insert of  claim 8  in which the fragrance coating includes or is comprised entirely of microencapsulated fragrance oil.  
   
   
       17 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the insert material is a non-woven, porous or synthetic carrier material that will hold and allow evaporative emittance of fragrance.  
   
   
       18 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the insert material is constructed from extruded polyethylene or molded polystyrene based fragrance materials.  
   
   
       19 . The insert of  claim 1  in which the scented insert card is placed inside existing spindles that contain a cavity of sufficient size.  
   
   
       20 . A pre-scented insert sized to fit within a central opening of a roll of toilette paper or paper towels to impart a pleasing odor to the roll of toilette paper or paper towels; the insert comprising a sheet of absorbent material; a load of fragrance applied to the material, the fragrance load being about 0.09 gm/in 2 .
