Work vehicle cab screen
Abstract
A sidescreen for the cab of a work vehicle, such as a skid steer loader, is formed by punching out openings in a sheet of metal, leaving strips or webs between the openings. The openings are arranged in generally vertical and horizontal rows, and a high percentage of the area is open for visibility in the sidescreen regions. The strips between the openings have ribs formed across the width of the strips to reduce sheet bowing, or “oil can” shape. The ribs are formed in a first direction for the plane of the screen on the vertical strips, and in a second opposite direction from the plane of the screen on the horizontal strips. This provides a flatness control for the formed screen.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A screen for the side of a work vehicle cab comprising a sheet of metal having a series of spaced openings therein that extend in rows in both horizontal and generally vertical directions, with horizontal and generally vertical strips between and defining the individual openings, first ribs formed in a selected number of horizontal strips extending across the horizontal strips, and second ribs formed in a selected number of generally vertical strips extending across the strips.
2 . The screen of claim 1 , wherein the ribs in the horizontal strips extend from a plane of the screen in a first direction from the plane, and the ribs formed in the generally vertical strips being formed in a second opposite direction from the plane.
3 . The screen of claim 1 , wherein the ribs extend in the range between 0.040 and 0.080 inches from the plane of the screen.

5 . (canceled)
6 . A screen for the side of a work vehicle cab comprising a sheet of material having a plurality of openings therein, each opening being defined by spaced strips of material forming a periphery to define the individual openings, and a rib formed in selected strips forming the periphery of selected openings, the ribs extending across a width of the respective strip.
7 . The screen of claim 6 , wherein first ribs extend from a plane of the screen in a first direction from the plane on strips on first spaced sides of the opening, and second ribs being formed in the strips on second spaced sides which extend in a second opposite direction from the plane.
8 . A screen for the side of a work vehicle cab comprising a sheet of metal having a series of spaced openings therein that extend in rows in both horizontal and generally upright directions, with horizontal and generally upright strips between and defining the individual openings, a plurality of ribs formed in a selected number of at least the upright strips and extending across a plurality of adjacent upright strips, and at least a second rib formed in the sheet in a selected location.
9 . The screen of claim 1 , wherein the second ribs are formed in horizontal strips.Cited by (0)
