Abstract

A tissue product having two or more layers, with at least one layer including carboxylated cellulosic fibers. Methods for making the tissue product.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A tissue product, comprising two or more layers, wherein at least one layer comprises carboxylated cellulosic fibers.

. The tissue product of claim 1 , wherein the carboxylated fibers are present in an amount from about 0.5 to about 100 percent by weight based on the total weight of the layer.

. The tissue product of claim 1 , wherein the carboxylated fibers are present in about 75 percent by weight based on the total weight of the layer.

. The tissue product of claim 1 , wherein the carboxylated fibers have a carboxyl content of from about 6 to about 60 meq/100 g cellulose.

. The tissue product of claim 1 , wherein the carboxylated fibers have a carboxyl content of from about 6 to about 10 meq/100 g cellulose.

. The tissue product of claim 1 , wherein the carboxylated fibers have an aldehyde content of less than about 1 meq/100 g cellulose.

. The tissue product of claim 1 further comprising non-carboxylated fibers.

. The tissue product of claim 7 , wherein the non-carboxylated fibers are at least one of recycled fibers, bleached kraft hardwood pulp fibers, bleached kraft softwood pulp fibers, bleached sulfite pulp fibers, or bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp fibers.

. The tissue product of claim 1 further comprising a wet strength agent

. The tissue product of claim 9 , wherein the wet strength agent comprises a polyacrylamide-epichlorohydrin resin.

. The tissue product of claim 9 , wherein the wet strength agent is present in an amount from about 5 to about 40 lb/ton fiber.

. The tissue product of claim 9 , wherein the wet strength agent comprises cationic starch.

. The tissue product of claim 1 further comprising carboxymethyl cellulose.

. The tissue product of claim 13 , wherein carboxymethyl cellulose is present in an amount less than about 10 lb/ton fiber.

. The tissue product of claim 1 , wherein product is at least one of a facial tissue, a toilet tissue, a disposable wipe, a napkin, a handkerchief, or a paper towel.

. The tissue product of claim 1 having a wet burst/dry tensile ratio of from about 0.20 to about 0.40.

. The tissue product of claim 1 having two layers.

. The tissue product of claim 1 having three layers.

. The tissue product of claim 1 having more than one ply.
