Retractable awning with light and sound features

Abstract

A retractable awning for mounting on a recreational vehicle, building structure, or the like includes a mounting rail securable to a support surface, an outer rail that is connected to the mounting rail with a flexible awning canopy, a support structure for moving the outer rail toward and away from the mounting rail to move the awning between retracted and extended positions, and wherein the outer rail includes end caps having light sources and speakers for an audio system.

1 . A retractable awning for mounting on a support surface comprising in combination: 
 a mounting rail for attachment to said support surface,    an awning sheet having inner and outer edges with the inner edge secured to said mounting rail,    an outer rail secured to said outer edge of said awning sheet such that said awning sheet can be selectively wrapped or unwrapped about said mounting rail or outer rail, said outer rail having opposite ends and an end cap on each of Its opposite ends, said end caps each including a light source, an audio speaker and connection systems for respectively connecting said light source and audio speaker to a power source and an audio source, respectively, and    a support system operatively interconnecting the support surface and the outer rail to allow the awning to be moved between extended and retracted positions.

The awning of  claim 1  wherein each of said end caps further includes a mounting bracket for attachment to a respective end of said outer rail and a housing mounted on said mounting bracket, said housing including openings through which light from said light source and sound from said audio speaker can pass.  
     
     
         3 . The awning of  claim 2  wherein said light sources and audio speakers are operably mounted on a respective one of said mounting brackets.  
     
     
         4 . The awning of  claim 3  wherein each of said end caps further includes a mounting box for supporting said light source and said audio speaker and further wherein said mounting box is secured to said mounting bracket.  
     
     
         5 . The awning of  claim 3  wherein said housings are two piece housings forming a contiguous extension from the respective ends of said outer rail.
