Woven pool cover fabric providing water drainage and at least 95% shade

Abstract

A woven pool cover fabric comprises a thermoplastic warp yarn and a thermoplastic fibrillated weft filling yarn, providing at least 95% shade. A woven swimming pool cover having polyolefin warp yarns and fibrillated polyolefin weft yarns is lightweight, water permeable, and provides at least % shade, thus preventing algae growth and debris accumulation in the pool, as well as facilitating ease of installation and removal of the cover.

1 . A woven pool cover fabric comprising: 
 a thermoplastic warp yarn having a denier ranging from about 400 F to about 650 F; and    a thermoplastic fibrillated weft filling yarn having a denier ranging from about 2000 to about 4000; said pool cover providing at least 95% shade.

       3 . The woven pool cover of  claim 1 , wherein said thermoplastic warp yarn has a thickness of about 0.004 to 0.009 inches (0.102 to 0.229 mm).  
   
   
       4 . The woven pool cover of  claim 1 , wherein said thermoplastic yarns are selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, polyesters and polyamides.  
   
   
       5 . The woven pool cover of  claim 4 , wherein said polyolefin is polypropylene.  
   
   
       6 . The woven pool cover of  claim 1 , wherein the warp yarn end count is from about 33 to about 42 per inch and the fill yarn end count is about 11 to about 15 per inch.  
   
   
       7 . The woven pool cover of  claim 1 , wherein said woven pool cover provides 100% shade.  
   
   
       8 . The woven pool cover of  claim 7 , wherein said woven pool cover is permeable to air to the extent of about 10 CFM (283 liters/minute) to about 30 CFM (850 liters/minute).
