Abstract

A commode safety frame is provided. The safety frame includes, for example, first and second side frames and first and second safety bracket rails. Each side frame includes a circular tube portion that transitions to a first non-circular tube portion and at least one aperture disposed substantially in the middle of the vertical length of the first non-circular portion. Each safety bracket rail is in releasable communication with the first and second side frames, respectively, each includes a circular tube portion that transitions to a second non-circular tube portion and at least one biased detent protruding from a wall of the second non-circular tube portion and disposed substantially in the middle of a vertical length of the second non-circular portion.

1 . A commode safety frame comprising; 
 first and second side frames, each side frame comprising:    a circular tube portion that transitions to a first non-circular tube portion, and    at least one aperture disposed in the first non-circular portion;    first and second rails in releasable communication with the first and second side frames, respectively, each rail comprising:    a circular tube portion that transitions to a second non-circular tube portion,    at least one aperture in a wall of the second non-circular tube portion; and    wherein the first non-circular tube portion mates with the second non-circular tube portion.    
   
   
       2 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 1  further comprising a safety bracket coupled on a first end to the circular tube portion of the first rail and coupled on a second end to the circular tube portion of the second rail.  
   
   
       3 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 2  further comprising a mounting plate coupled to the safety bracket.  
   
   
       4 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 3  further comprising a first leg coupled to the circular tube portion of the first side frame and a second leg coupled to the circular tube portion of the second side frame.  
   
   
       5 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 4  where each of the first and second legs further comprises at least one aperture, and 
 each of the first and second side frames further comprises a biased detent protruding from the wall of the circular tube portion.    
   
   
       6 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 1  where the first non-circular tube portions and the second non-circular tube portions have substantially square cross-sections.  
   
   
       7 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 1  where the first non-circular tube portions and the second non-circular tube portions have substantially rectangular cross-sections.  
   
   
       8 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 1  where the first non-circular tube portions and the second non-circular tube portions have substantially triangular cross-sections.  
   
   
       9 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 1  where the first non-circular tube portions and the second non-circular tube portions have substantially elliptical cross-sections.  
   
   
       10 . A commode safety frame comprising: 
 first and second side frames, each side frame comprising: 
 a circular tube portion,  
 a non-circular tube portion, and  
 at least one aperture disposed in the non-circular tube portion;  
   first and second safety bracket rails, each safety bracket rail comprising: 
 a circular tube portion,  
 a non-circular tube portion, and  
 at least one pin protruding from a wall of the non-circular tube portion; and  
   wherein the first non-circular tube portion mates with the second non-circular tube portion.    
   
   
       11 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 10  further comprising a bracket with first and second ends, the first end coupled to the circular tube portion of the first safety bracket rail and the second end coupled to the circular tube portion of the second safety bracket rail.  
   
   
       12 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 11  further comprising a mounting plate coupled to the bracket.  
   
   
       13 . The safety commode frame as in  claim 12  wherein the pin is biased in a first direction.  
   
   
       14 . A safety commode frame as in  claim 10  further comprising first and second extendable legs.  
   
   
       15 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 10  where the non-circular tube portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular tube portions of the first and second safety bracket rails have substantially square cross-sections.  
   
   
       16 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 10  where the non-circular tube portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular tube portions of the first and second safety bracket rails have substantially rectangular cross-sections.  
   
   
       17 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 10  where the non-circular tube portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular tube portions of the first and second safety bracket rails have substantially triangular cross-sections.  
   
   
       18 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 10  where the non-circular tube portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular tube portions of the first and second safety bracket rails have substantially elliptical cross-sections.  
   
   
       19 . A commode safety frame comprising: 
 first and second side frames, each side rail comprising: 
 a frame main section having a non-circular end portion, and  
 at least one opening in a wall of the non-circular end portion;  
   first and second attachment rails, each attachment rail comprising: 
 an rail main section having a non-circular end portion, and  
 at least one detent retractably extending from a surface of the non-circular end portion; and  
   the side frames removably coupled to the attachment rails at a location comprising the non-circular portion of the side frame main section and the non-circular portion of the in rail main section.    
   
   
       20 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 19  further comprising an attachment mechanism, the attachment mechanism comprising; 
 a bracket to which the first and the second attachment rails are coupled; and    a plate for mounting the commode safety frame to an object.    
   
   
       21 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 19  further comprising a extendable leg mechanism, the extendable leg mechanism comprising; 
 a pin protruding from the aide frame; and    first and second legs, each leg with at least one opening along its surface.    
   
   
       22 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 19  where the non-circular end portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular end portions of the first and second attachment rails have substantially square cross-sections.  
   
   
       23 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 19  where the non-circular end portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular end portions of the first and second attachment rails have substantially rectangular cross-sections.  
   
   
       24 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 19  where the non-circular end portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular end portions of the first and second attachment rails have substantially triangular cross-sections.  
   
   
       25 . A commode safety frame as in  claim 19  where the non-circular end portions of the first and second side frames and the non-circular end portions of the first and second attachment rails have substantially elliptical cross-sections.  
   
   
       26 . A commode safety frame comprising: 
 first and second side frames, each side frame comprising: 
 a circular tube portion that transitions to a first non-circular tube portion, and  
 at least one aperture in the first non-circular portion;  
   first and second rails in releasable communication with the first and second side frames, respectively, each rail comprising: 
 a circular tube portion that transitions to a second non-circular tube portion,  
 at least one opening in the second non-circular portion; and  
   wherein the first non-circular tube portion mates with the second non-circular tube portion.    
   
   
       27 . The commode safety frame of  claim 26  wherein the first and second non-circular tube portions comprise a substantially non-circular cross-section.  
   
   
       28 . The commode safety frame of  claim 26  wherein the first and second non-circular tube portions comprise a substantially square cross-section.  
   
   
       29 . The commode safety frame of  claim 26  wherein the first and second non-circular tube portions comprise a substantially rectangular cross-section.

 means for supporting the frame on a commode;    means for supporting the frame on a floor; and    means for releasably joining the means for supporting the frame on a commode and the means for supporting the frame on a floor, said means for releasably joining comprising a non-circular cross-sectional geometry.    
   
   
       34 . The commode safety frame of  claim 33  wherein the means for releasably joining comprises a circular section of tubing that transitions to a non-circular section of tubing.  
   
   
       35 . The commode safety frame of  claim 33  wherein the means for releasably joining comprises a circular section of tubing that transitions to a substantially square section of tubing.  
   
   
       36 . The commode safety frame of  claim 33  wherein the means for releasably joining comprises a circular section of tubing that transitions to a substantially rectangular section of tubing.  
   
   
       37 . The commode safety frame of  claim 33  wherein the means for releasably joining comprises a circular section of tubing that transitions to a substantially oval section of tubing.

       42 . A commode safety frame comprising: 
 first and second side frames, each side frame comprising: 
 a circular tube portion,  
 a non-circular tube portion, and  
   first and second safety bracket rails, each safety bracket rail comprising: 
 a circular tube portion,  
 a non-circular tube portion, and  
   wherein the first non-circular tube portion mates with the second non-circular tube portion.    
   
   
       43 . The commode safety frame of  claim 43  further comprising a means for releasably locking the side frames and the safety bracket rails in position with each other.
