Claims

Abstract

An advanced cleaning system comprising cleaning compositions, pads, and implements provide effective cleaning of soft and hard surfaces. The system includes (a) a handle portion, the handle portion having a proximal end and a distal end, (b) a cleaning head portion that is attached to the distal end of the handle portion and that is adapted for use with a removable cleaning pad; (c) a cradle that is secured to the handle portion, and (d) a detachable cleaning aerosol reservoir for delivering cleaning fluid onto the surface to be cleaned adjacent the cleaning head portion, wherein the reservoir is positioned within the cradle.

1 . A cleaning system comprising: 
 (a) a handle portion having a proximal end and a distal end wherein the proximal end includes a hand gripping surface;    (b) a cleaning head portion that is attached to the distal end of the handle portion and that is adapted for use with a removable cleaning pad; and    (c) a detachable cleaning fluid reservoir for delivering cleaning fluid onto the surface to be cleaned adjacent the cleaning head portion.    
   
   
       2 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the handle portion includes a secondary hand gripping surface.  
   
   
       3 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the cleaning head portion includes a lower surface onto which the removable cleaning pad is attached and further comprising roller means for maneuvering the cleaning head portion over the surface to be cleaned and wherein the roller means is mounted to the cleaning head portion.  
   
   
       4 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the cleaning head portion comprises a curved upper surface onto which the distal end of the handle portion is attached and a lower surface onto which the removable cleaning pad is attached.  
   
   
       5 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  further comprising a cradle that is secured to the handle portion wherein the cleaning fluid reservoir comprises a container that is positioned within an internal passage defined in the cradle.  
   
   
       6 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein the internal passage includes an aperture and the container includes a dispensing orifice that is connected to a nozzle with an orifice that is aligned with the aperture and wherein the nozzle orifice is tilted at an angle ranging from 2 to 35 degrees relative to a vertical centerline of the container.  
   
   
       7 . The cleaning system of  claim 6  wherein the nozzle orifice is configured to delivery the cleaning fluid onto the surface to be cleaned in the form of a spray pattern with an enclosing angle that ranges from 10 to 30 degrees.  
   
   
       8 . The cleaning system of  claim 7  wherein the cleaning head portion includes a lower surface onto which the removable cleaning pad is attached and wherein the nozzle orifice is positioned a distance of from 2 to 6 inches from the lower surface.  
   
   
       9 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein the cradle is an integral extension of the handle, with the container and handle approximately being centered.  
   
   
       10 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein the container is provided with a dispensing orifice.  
   
   
       11 . The cleaning system of  claim 10  wherein the container is positioned such that the dispensing orifice dispenses cleaning fluid ahead of the cleaning head.  
   
   
       12 . The cleaning system of  claim 10  wherein the dispensing orifice is configured to dispense the cleaning fluid as an suspension of fine solid or liquid particles.  
   
   
       13 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein the cradle further comprises orienting means for orienting the container or a replacement therefore in a desirable position.  
   
   
       14 . The cleaning system of  claim 13  wherein the container includes a cap that has an upper surface and a horizontal base that is attached to the container and wherein the upper surface has a contour that is not parallel to the horizontal base and the contour defines a plane that is slanted at an angle from 20 to 40 degrees relative to the plane defined by the horizontal base.  
   
   
       15 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein the cradle further comprises locking means to stably retain the container in position.  
   
   
       16 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein the canister can be removed from the internal passage by applying a force of about 10 pounds or more on the container.  
   
   
       17 . The cleaning system of  claim 5  wherein when inserting the canister into or removing the canister out of the cradle causes the locking means to yield an audible clue of 5 to 20 decibels.  
   
   
       18 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the handle portion has a length suitable for the user to actuate the cleaning system, while in a substantially upright position, thereby releasing the cleaning fluid.  
   
   
       19 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  further comprising bristles that project from the cleaning head portion or wherein the bristles are (i) fixed on the first surface or (ii) attached to an elongated member that is removably attached to the cleaning head member.  
   
   
       20 . The cleaning system of  claim 19  wherein the bristles are configured to remove debris that is trapped by carpet fibers.  
   
   
       21 . The cleaning system of  claim 19  wherein the bristles are attached to an elongated member that is pivotably attached on first and second attachment positions that are located on opposite sides of the cleaning head member.  
   
   
       22 . The cleaning system of  claim 21  wherein the cleaning head portion includes a cleaning pad that is attached thereto and wherein the cleaning pad includes a cut-out region on each of two opposite sides wherein each cut-out region is dimensioned to correspond to one of the first and second attachment positions.  
   
   
       23 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the cleaning fluid comprises cleaning agents for removing soil and debris from carpet fibers.  
   
   
       24 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the cleaning head portion includes a cleaning pad that is attached thereto wherein the cleaning pad is made of an absorbent or adsorbent material suited for removing soil and debris from carpets.  
   
   
       25 . The cleaning system of  claim 24  wherein the cleaning pad defines one or more slits that are attached to corresponding stays on an upper surface of the cleaning head portion.  
   
   
       26 . The cleaning system of  claim 25  wherein the one or more slits are each substantially linear with a length of from 0.5 to 2 inches and a width of from 0.05 to 1 inch.  
   
   
       27 . The cleaning system of  claim 26  wherein each slit is cut at an angle of between 0 to 90 degrees relative to a side of the cleaning pad.  
   
   
       28 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the cleaning head has a cleaning pad attached thereto and the cleaning pad has incorporated therein one or more agents that is selected from the group consisting of a miticide and anti-allergen agents, soil and stain resist agents, abrasives, antifoam agents, lubricants to enhance glide, dirt attracting polymers, odor absorbing agents, wetting agents, and mixtures thereof.  
   
   
       29 . The cleaning system of  claim 1  wherein the cleaning fluid comprises a miticide.  
   
   
       30 . A cleaning head assembly adapted for use with a removable cleaning pad that comprises: 
 (a) a cleaning head member having a first surface and a second surface;    (b) bristles projecting from the cleaning head assembly, wherein the bristles are (i) fixed on the first surface or (ii) attached to an elongated member that is removably attached to cleaning head member; and    (c) means for securing a cleaning pad to the cleaning head member.    
   
   
       31 . The cleaning assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles are attached to an elongated member that is pivotably attached to the cleaning head member.  
   
   
       32 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles form at least one row of projecting bristles.  
   
   
       33 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles form two or more rows of projecting bristles with at least one row comprising taller bristles that are longer than those of the other row(s) that comprises shorter bristles.  
   
   
       34 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the first surface has a rectangular outer contour and the bristles are located along a line traversing the length of the first surface.  
   
   
       35 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 33  wherein the longer bristles are about 0.25 to 0.50 inches tall and the shorter bristles are about 0.05 to 0.2 inches shorter than the longer bristles.

       54 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 53  wherein the one or more slits are each substantially linear with a length of from 0.5 to 2 inches and a width of from 0.05 to 1 inch.

The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the cleaning head member has a cleaning pad attached thereto and the cleaning pad has incorporated therein one or more agents that is selected from the group consisting of a miticide and anti-allergen agents, soil and stain resist agents, abrasives, antifoam agents, lubricants to enhance glide, dirt attracting polymers, odor absorbing agents, wetting agents, and mixtures thereof.  
   
   
       57 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles project from the first surface of the cleaning head member and wherein the first surface with said bristles exhibits a glide force of from about 10 to 30 pounds of force.  
   
   
       58 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles project from the first surface of the cleaning head member and wherein the first surface with the bristles exhibits a glide force of from about 12 to 18 pounds of force.  
   
   
       59 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles project from the first surface of the cleaning head member, wherein a cleaning pad is also secured to the first surface and wherein the first surface with the bristles and cleaning pad exhibits a glide force of from about 15 to 40 pounds of force.

The cleaning head assembly of  claim 30  wherein the bristles project from the first surface of the cleaning head member, wherein a cleaning pad is also secured to the first surface and wherein the first surface with the bristles and cleaning pad exhibits a glide force of from about 15 to 30 pounds of force.  
   
   
       61 . A cleaning head assembly having a removable cleaning pad attached thereto that comprises: 
 (a) a cleaning head member having a first surface and a second surface wherein the cleaning pad is secured to the first surface;    (b) bristles projecting from the cleaning head member, wherein the bristles are (i) fixed on the first surface or (ii) attached to an elongated member that is removably attached to cleaning head member; and    (c) means for securing a cleaning pad to the cleaning head member.    
   
   
       62 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 61  wherein the bristles are attached to an elongated member that is pivotably attached to the cleaning head member.  
   
   
       63 . The cleaning head assembly of  claim 61  wherein the bristles form at least one row of projecting bristles.

A cleaning pad, which is adapted to be removably attached to a cleaning head assembly that has (i) a first surface (ii) a second surface (iii) a receiving structure configured to accommodate a pole attachment and (iv) means for securing the cleaning pad, wherein the cleaning pad comprises: a sheet of material having a first surface and second surface wherein the sheet defines (i) a middle region having a contour that substantially matches that of the first surface of the cleaning head and (ii) a first side region and (ii) a second side region, and wherein at least one of the first side region or the second side region defines an open notched area such that when the first and second regions are folded onto the second surface, the open notched area has a perimeter that circumscribes at least a portion of the outer contour of a receiving structure.  
   
   
       92 . The cleaning pad of  claim 91  wherein each of the first and second regions defines slits that are configured to be secured to the means for securing the cleaning pad on the second surface.  
   
   
       93 . The cleaning pad of  claim 91  wherein the second surface of the cleaning pad comprises a cleaning surface.

A cleaning pad, which is adapted to be removably attached to a cleaning head assembly that has (i) a first surface (ii) a second surface (iii) a receiving structure configured to accommodate a pole attachment and (iv) means for securing the cleaning pad, wherein the cleaning pad comprises: a sheet of material having a first surface and second surface wherein the sheet defines (i) a middle region having a contour that substantially matches that of the first surface of the cleaning head and (ii) a first side region and (ii) a second side region, and wherein at least one of the first side region or the second side region defines an open notched area such that when the first and second regions are folded onto the second surface, the open notched area has a perimeter that circumscribes at least a portion of the outer contour of a receiving structure, and wherein the cleaning surface is textured and exhibits a glide force of about 4 to 20 pounds of force.  
   
   
       104 . The cleaning pad of  claim 103  wherein the cleaning surface exhibits a glide force of about 6 to 15 pounds of force.  
   
   
       105 . The cleaning pad of  claim 104  wherein the cleaning surface further includes bristiles projecting therefrom and the cleaning surface exhibits a glide force of about 15 to 40 pounds of force.  
   
   
       106 . The cleaning pad of  claim 103  wherein the cleaning surface further includes bristiles projecting therefrom and the cleaning surface exhibits a glide force of about 15 to 30 pounds of force.  
   
   
       107 . The cleaning pad of  claim 103  wherein each of the first and second regions defines slits that are configured to be secured to the means for securing the cleaning pad on the second surface.

       116 . A cradle-canister assembly for supplying a pressure of cleaning fluid that comprises: 
 (a) a cradle body member forming an internal passage having side walls with one or more alignment guides wherein the cradle body member defines an aperture through which the pressure spray emanates; and    (b) a spray canister having a nozzle through which cleaning fluid flows, a valve with an actuator, and a cap adapted to be fixed to an outside surface of the canister wherein a portion of the outer surface of the cap is contoured to match the one or more alignment guides so that as the spray canister is inserted into the internal passage the one or more alignment guides cooperates with the cap to facilitate the alignment of the nozzle to the aperture.    
   
   
       117 . The cradle-canister assembly of  claim 116  wherein the internal passage includes means for frictionally securing the spray canister when the nozzle is properly aligned with the aperture.  
   
   
       118 . The cradle-canister assembly of  claim 117  wherein the cradle body member includes a valve lever device that is aligned with the valve actuator.

 a canister having a reservoir containing a cleaning composition and gas propellant and having a nozzle through which the cleaning composition flows, a valve with an actuator, and a cap adapted to be fixed to an outside surface of the canister wherein a portion of the outer surface of the cap is contoured to match the one or more alignment guides so that as the canister is inserted into the internal passage the one or more alignment guides cooperates the cap to facilitate the alignment of the nozzle to the aperture.
