Abstract

Synthetic Phorboxazole A and derivatives thereof for the treatment of cancer, including inhibition of cancer cell growth, induction of apoptosis, and inhibition of metastises.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A composition comprising an effective therapeutic amount of the compound of the formula:

       and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier

2 . A composition comprising an effective therapeutic amount of the compound of the formula:

       and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier

3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said compound is formulated as a prodrug.

4 . A method for inducing apoptosis cancer cells, said method comprising contacting cancer cells with an effective apoptosis-inducing amount of a compound of claim 1 .

5 . A method for inhibiting cancer cell division, said method comprising contacting cancer cells with an effective inhibitory dose of a compound of claim 1 .

6 . A method for treating cancer comprising administering to a patient an effective therapeutic dose of a compound of claim 1 .

7 . A composition comprising a therapeutically effective dose of one or more of: 29-phorboxamnide A, 31-methyl-phorboxylate, and 18-methyl-phorboxylate and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

8 . A method for preventing adhesion or migration of cancer cells, said method comprising contacting cancer cells with the composition of claim 7 .

9 . A composition comprising an effective therapeutic dose of synthetic phorboxazole A having the formula (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

10 . A method for inducing apoptosis of cancer cells, comprising administering to the cancer cells an effective dose of synthetic phorboxazole A.

11 . A method for treating cancer comprising administering to a patient an effective therapeutic amount of a compound selected from synthetic Phorboxazole A; 29-phorboxamide A; 31-methyl-phorboxylate; and 18-methyl-phorboxylate.

12 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein said compound is formulated as a prodrug.

13 . A method for inducing apoptosis cancer cells, said method comprising contacting cancer cells with an effective apoptosis-inducing amount of a compound of claim 2 .

14 . A method for inhibiting cancer cell division, said method comprising contacting cancer cells with an effective inhibitory dose of a compound of claim 2 .

15 . A method for treating cancer comprising administering to a patient an effective therapeutic dose of a compound of claim 2.
