Abstract
Synthetic Phorboxazole A and derivatives thereof for the treatment of cancer, including inhibition of cancer cell growth, induction of apoptosis, and inhibition of metastises.

7 . A composition comprising a therapeutically effective dose of one or more of: 29-phorboxamnide A, 31-methyl-phorboxylate, and 18-methyl-phorboxylate and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

9 . A composition comprising an effective therapeutic dose of synthetic phorboxazole A having the formula (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
10 . A method for inducing apoptosis of cancer cells, comprising administering to the cancer cells an effective dose of synthetic phorboxazole A.
11 . A method for treating cancer comprising administering to a patient an effective therapeutic amount of a compound selected from synthetic Phorboxazole A; 29-phorboxamide A; 31-methyl-phorboxylate; and 18-methyl-phorboxylate.
12 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein said compound is formulated as a prodrug.
13 . A method for inducing apoptosis cancer cells, said method comprising contacting cancer cells with an effective apoptosis-inducing amount of a compound of claim 2 .
