Abstract

A hair cutting device for cutting hair growing from a skin surface, the device comprising: a heat generator configured and adapted to heat hair a temperature sufficient to cut hair; a motion detector, configured and adapted to detect motion of the heat generator with respect to the skin surface; and a controller that controls the heat generator responsive to the detected motion.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A hair cutting device for cutting hair growing from a skin surface, the device comprising:
a heat generator configured and adapted to heat hair to a temperature sufficient to cut hair; a motion detector, configured and adapted to detect motion of the heat generator with respect to the skin surface; and a controller that controls the heat generator responsive to the detected motion.

2 . A hair cutting device according to claim 1 wherein the controller is operative to interrupt the heat generator when the detected motion falls below a predetermined threshold.

3 . A hair cutting device according to claim 1 wherein the controller is operative to reduce the temperature to which the hair is heated when the detected motion falls below a predetermined threshold.

4 . A hair cutting device according to claim 1 wherein the heat generator comprises at least one heated wire.

5 . A hair cutting device according to claim 1 wherein the apparatus comprises a structure, a portion of which being adapted for placement against a skin surface where hair is to be cut, said heat generator being operative to cut hair situated at said portion.

6 . A hair cutting device according to claim 5 wherein said heat generator comprising one or more wires energized by a power supply adapted to controllably heat the wire, wherein said controller controls the power supply to heat the wire responsive to the detected motion.

7 . A hair cutting device according to claim 6 wherein at least one wire is juxtaposed with said portion, the wire being positioned to touch said hair and heated to a temperature sufficient to cut hair.

8 . A hair cutting device according to claim 7 wherein at least one wire is juxtaposed to said portion, such that when said portion is placed against the skin, the heated wire touches the skin.

9 . A hair cutting device according to claim 1 wherein said heat generator would burn the skin of the user if it were operational at at least one velocity that is below is below a velocity threshold at which the level of heating is interrupted or reduced.

10 . A hair cutting device according to claim 4 wherein the controller is configured to cause said heat generator to increase the temperature of said wire when the velocity of said device increases in relation to said skin; and wherein said controller is operative to decrease the temperature of said wire when the velocity of said apparatus decreases in relation to said skin.
