Firing pins and breechblocks for firearms

Abstract

Firing pins and breechblocks for firearms are disclosed. An example firing pin includes an elongated, generally cylindrical firing pin shaft. The shaft has at least one thickened guide section. The firing pin also includes a non-tapered end having a point. The non-tapered end comprises at least a portion of one of the at least one guide sections.

1 . For use in a firearm, a firing pin comprising: 
 an elongated, generally cylindrical firing pin shaft, the shaft having at least one thickened guide section; and    a non-tapered end having a point, the non-tapered end comprising at least a portion of one of the at least one guide sections.    
   
   
       2 . A firing pin as defined in  claim 1  further comprising a stop at an end of the shaft opposite the point.  
   
   
       3 . A firing pin as defined in  claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the shaft is approximately 3 mm.  
   
   
       4 . A firing pin as defined in  claim 1  wherein a diameter of at least one of the at least one guide members is approximately 3 mm.  
   
   
       5 . For use in a firearm, a firing pin comprising: 
 an elongated, generally cylindrical shaft; and    a non-tapered, thickened end having a generally rounded, but blunt, point.    
   
   
       6 . A firing pin as defined in  claim 5  further comprising a stop at an end of the shaft opposite the point.  
   
   
       7 . A firing pin as defined in  claim 5 , wherein a diameter of the thickened end is approximately 3 mm.  
   
   
       8 . In combination, 
 a bolt defining a substantially cylindrical bore;    a firing pin disposed in the substantially cylindrical bore, wherein the firing pin includes a thickened, non-tapered end portion which terminates in a point.
