Abstract

A system and method that enables installation of media devices in a chassis. The chassis has an internal cavity defined by a plurality of walls. Additionally, a first media device has a first external width dimension and a second media device has a second external width dimension. The second external width dimension is different than the first external width dimension. A plurality of mounting features are connected to the plurality of walls to hold the first media device and the second media device in a plurality of orientations relative to the chassis.

Claims

1 - 29 . (canceled)

       30 . A computer chassis, comprising:
a first portion of an internal cavity having a first transverse dimension; and a second portion of the internal cavity having a second transverse dimension different from the first transverse dimension, wherein the computer chassis is adapted to hold a first media device having a first width dimension and a second media device having a second width dimension different from the first width dimension in a plurality of orientations relative to the computer chassis.

31 . The computer chassis of claim 30 , wherein the internal cavity is non-rectangular, and wherein the first portion comprises a first rectangular portion and the second portion comprises a second rectangular portion.

32 . The computer chassis of claim 30 , wherein the first portion of the internal cavity has a first perpendicular dimension orthogonal to the first transverse dimension, the first perpendicular dimension corresponding to the second transverse dimension.

33 . A method of manufacturing a computer system, comprising:
forming a chassis comprising an internal cavity, a first portion of the internal cavity having a first transverse dimension and having a first perpendicular dimension orthogonal to the first transverse dimension, and a second portion of the internal cavity having a second transverse dimension different from the first transverse dimension, the first perpendicular dimension corresponding to the second transverse dimension.

34 . The method of claim 33 , comprising forming the internal cavity in a non-rectangular shape, wherein the first portion comprises a first rectangular portion and the second portion comprises a second rectangular portion.

       35 . The method of claim 33 , comprising:
installing a first electronic device into the first portion; and installing a second electronic device into the second portion.

36 . The method of claim 35 , comprising installing at least one electronic device comprising a hard drive.

37 . The method of claim 35 , comprising installing at least one of electronic device comprising a disk drive.

       38 . A computer chassis, comprising:
a non-rectangular internal cavity defined by a plurality of walls; a first rectangular portion of the internal cavity having a first transverse dimension; and a second rectangular portion of the internal cavity having a second transverse dimension different from the first transverse dimension, wherein the computer chassis is adapted to hold a first media device having a first width dimension and a second media device having a second width dimension different from the first width dimension in a plurality of orientations relative to the computer chassis.

       39 . A computer chassis, comprising:
a non-rectangular internal cavity defined by a plurality of walls; a first rectangular portion of the internal cavity having a first transverse dimension; and a second rectangular portion of the internal cavity having a second transverse dimension different from the first transverse dimension, wherein the first portion of the internal cavity has a first perpendicular dimension orthogonal to the first transverse dimension, the first perpendicular dimension corresponding to the second transverse dimension.

40 . A method of manufacturing a computer system, comprising:
forming a chassis comprising a non-rectangular internal cavity defined by a plurality of walls, a first rectangular portion of the internal cavity having a first transverse dimension, and a second rectangular portion of the internal cavity having a second transverse dimension different from the first transverse dimension, wherein the first rectangular portion is formed to have a first perpendicular dimension orthogonal to the first transverse dimension, the first perpendicular dimension corresponding to the second transverse dimension.

       41 . The method of claim 40 , comprising:
installing a first electronic device into the first rectangular portion; and installing a second electronic device into the second rectangular portion.

42 . The method of claim 40 , comprising installing at least one electronic device comprising a hard drive.

43 . The method of claim 40 , comprising installing at least one of electronic device comprising a disk drive.
