Novel three dimensional structures useful as cleaning sheets

Abstract

Disclosed are cleaning sheets having substantial macroscopic three-dimensionality. Optionally, the macroscopically three-dimensional cleaning sheets can comprise a contractable material (e.g., a scrim material), which when heated and then cooled contracts so as to provide a macroscopic, three-dimensional structure. Macroscopic three-dimensionality is described in terms of “average peak-to-peak distance” and “surface topography index”, as well in terms of “average height differential”. Also disclosed are cleaning implements comprising a handle and the described cleaning sheets. Processes for the sheets, benefits of the processes, and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.

1 . A cleaning kit comprising: 
 a package; and    at least one macroscopically three-dimensional cleaning sheet having a cleaning benefit, wherein said cleaning sheet stored in said package, said cleaning sheet having at least one layer of a nonwoven substrate, said cleaning sheet having a first outward surface and a second outward surface, wherein at least one of said outward surfaces has a macroscopic three dimensional pattern, said macroscopic three dimensional pattern being defined by peaks and valleys such that said patterned outward surface has an Average Peak to Peak Distance of at least about  320   1   320  mm and an Average Height Differential of at least about 1 mm,    wherein said package includes information present on said package, wherein said information informs a user of the cleaning benefit of said cleaning sheet.    
   
   
       2 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said information is chosen from at least one of words, pictures and combinations thereof.  
   
   
       3 . The cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein said information comprises a superiority claim over other cleaning products.  
   
   
       4 . The cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein said information instructs a user to contact a surface to be cleaned with said cleaning sheet, wherein said surface is chosen from at least one of wood floors, vinyl floors, linoleum floors, no-wax floors, ceramic floors, FORMICA, porcelain, walls, ceilings, upholstery, fabrics, drapes, rugs, clothing, pets and combinations thereof.  
   
   
       5 . The cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein said information informs a user that said cleaning sheet is capable of removing and entrapping soil, wherein said soil is chosen from at least one of dust, lint, hair, sand, food crumbs, grass, and combinations thereof.  
   
   
       6 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  further comprising a cleaning implement.  
   
   
       7 . The cleaning kit of  claim 6  wherein said cleaning implement comprises a handle.  
   
   
       8 . The cleaning kit of  claim 7  wherein said cleaning implement comprises a support head connected at one end of said handle.  
   
   
       9 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said Average Height Differential is at least 1.5 mm.  
   
   
       10 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said Average Height Differential is from about 1 mm to about 6 mm.  
   
   
       11 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said Average Peak to Peak Distance is at least about 2 mm.  
   
   
       12 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said Average Peak to Peak Distance is from about 1 to about 20 mm.  
   
   
       13 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  further comprising an additive for improving adhesion of soil to said sheet.  
   
   
       14 . The cleaning kit of  claim 13  wherein said additive is included at an add-on level of at least about 0.01%, by weight of the sheet.  
   
   
       15 . The cleaning kit of  claim 14  wherein said additive is included at an add-on level of at least about 1%, by weight of the sheet.  
   
   
       16 . The cleaning kit of  claim 15  wherein said additive is included at an add-on level of from about 1 to about 15%, by weight of the sheet.  
   
   
       17 . The cleaning kit of  claim 16  wherein said additive is included at an add-on level of from about 3 to about 10%, by weight of the sheet.  
   
   
       18 . The cleaning kit of  claim 13  wherein said additive is applied to at least one discrete continuous area of said cleaning sheet.  
   
   
       19 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said non wove; substrate is made of a synthetic fibrous material.  
   
   
       20 . The cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein said cleaning sheet comprises a perfume.
