Automated banking machine apparatus and system
Abstract
An automated banking machine ( 12 ) is operative to conduct transactions in response to HTML documents and TCP/IP messages exchanged with a local computer system ( 14 ) through an intranet ( 16 ), as well as in response to messages exchanged with foreign servers ( 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 96 ) in a wide area network ( 18 ). The banking machine includes a computer ( 34 ) having an HTML document handling software portion ( 76, 80, 82 ). The computer further includes a device application software portion ( 84 ) which interfaces with the HTML document handling software portion and dispatches messages to operate devices ( 36 ) in the automated banking machine. The device application software portion ( 84 ) communicates with a device interfacing software portion ( 64 ) in the banking machine through a device server ( 92 ) in the intranet. The device server maintains local control over the transaction function devices in the banking machine, including a cash dispenser ( 42 ).

a first software portion operative to cause operation of an automated transaction machine cash dispenser, a second software portion operative to cause processing of at least one markup language document, a third software portion operative to cause the first software portion to cause operation of the cash dispenser responsive to the second software portion causing the processing of at least one markup language document associated with operation of the cash dispenser, wherein the first, second, and third software portions are executable by at least one computer in operative connection with the cash dispenser.

15 . An automated banking machine comprising:
a computer operative in the automated banking machine; a plurality of transaction function devices in the automated banking machine,
wherein the transaction function devices are in operative connection with the computer,
wherein at least one of the transaction function devices includes a cash dispenser;
a device interfacing software portion operative in the computer,
wherein the device interfacing software portion is operative to control the operation of each of the transaction function devices,
document handling software operative in the computer,
wherein the document handling software includes at least one browser,
a device application software portion operative in the computer,
wherein the device application software portion includes a plurality of components which are each associated with at least one corresponding transaction function device,
wherein the device application software portion is operative responsive to the document handling software to cause the transaction function devices to operate via communication with the device interfacing software portion.

The automated banking machine according to claim 15 , wherein the document handling software is operative to processes at least one markup language document, wherein the device application software portion is operative responsive to the document handling software processing the at least one markup language document to cause communication through the device interfacing software portion.
17 . The automated banking machine according to claim 16 , wherein the at least one markup language document includes an HTML document.

The automated banking machine according to claim 15 , wherein a first one of the components of the device application software portion is associated with a first type of device and a second one of the components of the device application software portion is associated with a second type of device, wherein the transaction functions devices include a first transaction function device which corresponds to the first type of device, wherein the first one of the components of the device application software portion is operative responsive to the document handling software to cause the first transaction function device to operate through communication with the device interfacing software portion independent of whether any of the transaction function devices correspond to the second type of device.

The automated banking machine according to claim 15 , wherein at least one component is associated with a cash dispenser, wherein the at least one component associated with a cash dispenser is operative to cause the device interfacing software portion to operate the cash dispenser to dispense cash.

The automated banking machine according to claim 15 , wherein the device interfacing software portion includes a plurality of common device interfaces, wherein each common device interface is associated with at least one of the transaction function devices, wherein each common device interface is operative to control the operation of at least one of the transaction function devices.
21 . The automated banking machine according to claim 20 , wherein the components of the device application software portion correspond to at least one of terminal directors, software objects, software applets, and JAVA applets.
22 . The automated banking machine according to claim 20 , further comprising:
a device server program in operative communication with the computer, wherein the device server program is operative to cause the communication of messages between the device application software portion and the device interfacing software portion.
23 . The automated banking machine according to claim 22 , wherein the device server program is operative in the computer.
24 . The automated banking machine according to claim 22 , further comprising a device server located remotely from the automated banking machine, wherein the device server is operative to communicate with the computer, wherein the device server program is operative in the device server.

The automated banking machine according to claim 22 , wherein the device server program includes a monitor software application, wherein the monitor software application is operative to monitor device operation instructions communicated between the device application software portion and the device interfacing software portion.
26 . The automated banking machine according to claim 20 , further comprising:
a transaction services application operative in the computer, wherein the transaction services application provides an interface to communicate messages between the device application software portion and the device interfacing software portion.
27 . An article comprising:
computer executable instructions, executable by at least one computer in an automated banking machine including a cash dispenser, wherein execution of the instructions is operative to cause operation in the at least one computer of a document handling software portion, an application software portion, and a device interfacing software portion,
wherein the document handling software portion includes at least one browser,
wherein the cash dispenser operates to dispense cash responsive to communication between the application software portion, the document handling software portion, and the device interfacing software portion.

The article according to claim 27 wherein the cash dispenser is caused to operate to dispense cash responsive to processing at least one markup language document associated with operation of the cash dispenser through operation of the document handling software portion, and communication between the document handling software portion and the application software portion, and communication between the application software portion and the device interfacing software portion.Cited by (0)
