Abstract

The present invention provides systems and methods for providing television schedule and/or listing information to a viewer, and for allowing the viewer to link, search, select and interact with information in a remote database, e.g., a database on the internet. The television schedule and/or listing information can be displayed on a variety of viewer interfaces, such as televisions screens, computer monitors, PCTV screens and the like. The television schedule and/or listing information may be stored on the viewer's computer, television, PCTV, or a remote server (e.g., a website), or the television schedule and/or listing information may be downloaded from a remote database to the viewer's computer, television or PCTV.

 at least one videocassette recorder; at least one digital storage device; and at least one videocassette recorder and at least one digital storage device.

         54 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the selected recording device is one of a videocassette recorder and a digital storage device.

         55 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the selected television program is selected by a user using the interactive television program guide.

         56 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the selected recording device is selected by a user using the interactive television program guide.

         57 . A system for recording television programs using an interactive television program guide, the system comprising:
 a plurality of recording devices; and a processor configured to:
 select a television program for recording;
 select a recording device from the plurality of recording devices for recording the selected television program; and
 control the selected recording device to record the selected television program.

         58 . The system of claim 57 , wherein the processor is further configured to control a recording device other than the selected recording device to record a second television program at the same time as the selected television program.

         59 . The system of claim 58 , wherein the processor is further configured to select the recording device other than the selected recording device.

         60 . The system of claim 57 , wherein the processor is further configured to turn on the selected recording device at the start time of the selected television program.

         61 . The system of claim 57 , wherein the processor is further configured to turn off the selected recording device at the end time of the selected television program.

         62 . The system of claim 57 , wherein the plurality of recording devices is selected from the group consisting of:
 at least one videocassette recorder; at least one digital storage device; and at least one videocassette recorder and at least one digital storage device.
