Personal harness for towing

Abstract

An interpersonal towing system deploys two or more harnesses each worn by an individual, each harness connected to opposing sides of a highly elastic towline that is protected by a durable fabric cover. The harnesses are configured for detachable connection to the towline via a pair of loops or rings fixed at upper pelvis level at both the front and rear of each harness. The system is suitable for either person assisting the other to traverse difficult terrain with great efficiency yet without damaging the highly elastic towline.

1 . A pants garment for use with an interpersonal towing system comprising: 
 a) pants having an internal garment liner at least around the seat portion, and    b) 2 or more harness attachment straps disposed on the outside leg portion of said pants below the waist band or belt attachment loops of said pants.    
     
     
         2 . A pants garment according to  claim 1  wherein said harness attachment straps are sewn to both the inner garment liner and the exterior of the garment.  
     
     
         3 . A pants garment according to  claim 2  wherein said pants are short pants.  
     
     
         4 . A pants garment according to  claim 2  further comprising a harness belt  
     
     
         5 . A pants garment according to  claim 3  further comprising a harness belt  
     
     
         6 . A pants garment according to  claim 5  wherein said harness belt comprises a first ring and a second ring disposed at a separation of about one half the length of said belt so as to dispose said first ring and said second ring at the front and back of a pants garment when said harness belt is worn when inserted through said 2 or more harness attachment straps.  
     
     
         7 . A pants garment according to  claim 6  wherein each of said first ring and said second ring is a D-ring.  
     
     
         8 . A kit to retrofit a pants garment for attachment to an interpersonal towing system, the kit comprising: 
 a) a harness belt,    b) two or more belt loops,    c) fasteners for attaching the belt loops to the pants.    
     
     
         9 . A kit to retrofit a pants garment according to  claim 8  wherein said harness belt further comprises one or more rings attached thereto.  
     
     
         10 . A kit to retrofit a pants garment according to  claim 8  further comprising a first ring and a second ring, each of said rings attached to said harness belt, said first and second rings being disposed at a separation of about one half the length of said belt so as to be disposed on the front and back of a pants garment when worn.  
     
     
         11 . A kit to retrofit a pants garment according to  claim 8  wherein said fasteners are selected from the group consisting of rivets and grommets.  
     
     
         12 . A kit to retrofit a pants garment according to  claim 10  wherein each of said first and second rings is a D-ring.  
     
     
         13 . A kit to retrofit a back or waist pack for attachment to an interpersonal towing system, the kit comprising: 
 a) a first ring,    b) a tether sewn into a loop at one end to capture the flat side of said first ring,    c) a strap for the securement loop to be attached at each end to the back or waist pack so as to receive and horizontally support the portion of said tether that captures said ring,    d) 3 or more fasteners to attach each of said tether and said securement loop to the bottom portion of the back or waist pack.    
     
     
         14 . A kit according to  claim 13  further comprising a second ring, a strap and 2 or more fasteners for attachment to the front of the waist pack or backpack.  
     
     
         15 . A kit according to  claim 13  wherein said 3 or more fasteners are selected from the group consisting of rivets and grommets.  
     
     
         16 . A kit according to  claim 14  wherein at least one of said first ring and said second ring is a D-ring.
