Abstract

Methods for the prevention, treatment, or management of sexual dysfunction, such as premature ejaculation, by administering to a patient in need of therapy a therapeutically effective amount of a rapid-onset selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor on an as-needed basis shortly before sexual activity.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A method of treating or managing a sexual dysfunction in a mammal in need of treatment comprising administering on an as-needed basis to the mammal an amount of a rapid-onset selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that is therapeutically effective in the absence of priming dose.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mammal is a human male.

. The method of claim 2 , wherein the sexual dysfunction is selected from the group consisting of retarded ejaculation, low sexual desire, sexual aversion, or inhibited orgasm.

. The method of 3, wherein the sexual dysfunction is retarded ejaculation.

. The method of 3, wherein the rapid-onset selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor is administered from about 1 hour to about 8 hours prior to sexual activity.

. A method of treating or managing a sexual dysfunction in a mammal in need of treatment comprising administering on an as-needed basis to the mammal an amount of dapoxetine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof that is therapeutically effective in the absence of a priming dose.

. The method of claim 6 , wherein the sexual dysfunction is selected from the group consisting of retarded ejaculation, low sexual desire, sexual aversion, or inhibited orgasm.

. The method of claim 6 , wherein the mammal is a human male.

. The method of claim 6 , wherein the sexual dysfunction is retarded ejaculation.

. The method of claim 6 , wherein dapoxetine is administered from immediately prior to, to about 12 hours prior to sexual activity.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein dapoxetine is administered from immediately prior to, to about 8 hours prior to sexual activity.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein dapoxetine is administered from immediately prior to, to about 4 hours prior to sexual activity.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein dapoxetine is administered from immediately prior to, to about 3 hours prior to sexual activity.

. A method of treating sexual dysfunction selected from the group consisting of retarded ejaculation, low sexual desire, sexual aversion, or inhibited orgasm in a human male comprising administering orally to the human male about 0.01 mg to about 200 mg of dapoxetine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof from immediately prior to, to about 4 hours prior to sexual activity.

. A method of treating sexual dysfunction selected from the group consisting of retarded ejaculation, low sexual desire, sexual aversion, or inhibited orgasm in a human male comprising administering orally to the human male about 0.01 mg to about 200 mg of dapoxetine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof from immediately prior to, to about 3 hours prior to sexual activity.

. A method of treating sexual dysfunction selected from the group consisting of retarded ejaculation, low sexual desire, sexual aversion, or inhibited orgasm in a human male comprising administering orally to the human male about 0.01 mg to about 200 mg of dapoxetine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof from about 30 minutes to about 3 hours prior to sexual activity.

. A method of treating sexual dysfunction selected from the group consisting of retarded ejaculation, low sexual desire, sexual aversion, or inhibited orgasm in a human male comprising administering orally to the human male about 0.01 mg to about 200 mg of dapoxetine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof immediately prior to sexual activity.
