Abstract

Improved varieties of Brassica having an “R” rating for blackleg and resistance to AHAS-inhibitor herbicides, are provided. These varieties may be used to produce inbreds or hybrids or to produce vegetable oil and meal. Parts of these plants, including plant cells, are also provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for preparing oil and/or meal from seed of a Brassica plant comprising crushing seed from the Brassica plant and separating the oil and/or meal, wherein the Brassica plant is variety NS3213 or a progeny plant thereof, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-2471, wherein the Brassica plant contains alleles fixed for an “R” rating for blackleg and resistance to at least one AHAS-inhibitor herbicide.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the Brassica plant is capable of producing oil with less than 2% erucic acid and meal with less than 30 micromoles of glucosinolates per gram of defatted meal.

3 . Meal produced by the method of claim 1 .

4 . Meal in accordance with claim 3 having a glucosinolate content of less than 30 μmol per gram of defatted meal.

5 . A Brassica napus progeny plant or plant part of variety NS3213, wherein the variety and the progeny plant or plant part contain alleles fixed for an “R” rating for blackleg and resistance to at least one AHAS-inhibitor herbicide, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-2471.

6 . A Brassica napus progeny plant seed of variety NS3213, wherein the variety and the progeny plant seed contain alleles fixed for an “R” rating for blackleg and resistance to at least one AHAS-inhibitor herbicide, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-2471.

7 . A Brassica napus progeny plant cell of variety NS3213, wherein the variety and the progeny plant cell contain alleles fixed for an “R” rating for blackleg and resistance to at least one AHAS-inhibitor herbicide, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-2471.
