Abstract
Herbicidal compositions are provided which cause rapid symptomology while delivering long term control of regrowth of plants. The herbicidal concentrate compositions comprise N-phosphonomethylglycine or a herbicidal derivative thereof, an auxin herbicide or a herbicidal derivative thereof, and at least one surfactant. Also provided is a method for killing or controlling the growth of certain plants by contacting the foliage of the plants with the diluted concentrate composition.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An aqueous herbicidal concentrate composition comprising:
(a) glyphosate or a herbicidal derivative thereof; (b) an auxin herbicide component comprising one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, 2,4-DB, dichlorprop, MCPA, MCPB, mecoprop, dicamba, picloram, quniclorac and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof; and (c) a surfactant component in solution or stable suspension, emulsion or dispersion, comprising one or more surfactants; wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 32:1 and the composition has a cloud point of at least about 50° C. and a crystallization point not higher than about 0° C.
2 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, dicamba and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof.
3 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises 2,4-D or an agriculturally acceptable salt or ester thereof.
4 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises dicamba or an agriculturally acceptable salt or ester thereof.
5 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate is present predominantly in the form of the potassium salt thereof.
6 . The composition of claim 5 wherein at least about 90 percent by weight of the glyphosate is present in the form of the potassium salt thereof.
7 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 325 grams acid equivalent per liter.
8 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 425 grams acid equivalent per liter.
9 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 525 grams acid equivalent per liter.
10 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 38:1.
11 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 50:1.
12 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the surfactant component is present in an amount of at least about 3 wt. % based on the total weight of the composition.
13 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the surfactant component are present in a weight ratio of from about 1.9:1 to about 6:1.
14 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the herbicide content consists of glyphosate or a herbicidal derivative thereof and the auxin herbicide component.
15 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises an organic solvent, said composition containing not more than 10 weight percent of said organic solvent based on the total weight of the composition.
16 . A method of killing or controlling weeds or unwanted vegetation comprising:
diluting the composition of claim 1 in an amount of water to form an application mixture; and applying a herbicidally effective amount of the application mixture to foliage of the weeds or unwanted vegetation.
17 . The method of claim 16 wherein the weeds or undesired plants comprise a dicot.
18 . The method of claim 17 wherein the dicot comprises at least one broadleaf weed.
19 . The method of claim 16 wherein the application mixture is applied to foliage of crop plants genetically transformed or selected to tolerate glyphosate and said weeds or said unwanted vegetation growing in close proximity to the crop plants to control the weeds or unwanted vegetation while leaving the crop plants substantially unharmed.
20 . The method of claim 19 wherein the weeds or undesired plants comprise a dicot.
21 . The method of claim 20 wherein the dicot comprises at least one broadleaf weed.
22 . An aqueous herbicidal concentrate composition comprising:
(a) glyphosate, predominantly in the form of the potassium salt thereof, in a concentration of at least 65 grams acid equivalent per liter; (b) an auxin herbicide component comprising one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, 2,4-DB, dichlorprop, MCPA, MCPB, mecoprop, dicamba, picloram, quniclorac and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof; and (c) a first surfactant component in solution or stable suspension, emulsion or dispersion and comprising one or more surfactants selected from the group consisting of:
(i) a secondary or tertiary amine having the formula:
wherein R 1 is hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen or hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms;
(ii) dialkoxylated quaternary ammonium salt having the formula:
wherein R 11 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 12 in each of the x(R 12 O) and y (R 12 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 13 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, R 14 hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, x and y are independently an average number from 1 to about 40, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion;
(iii) monoalkoxylated quaternary ammonium salts having the formula:
wherein R 21 and R 25 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 24 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 22 in each of the x 2 (R 22 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 23 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, x is an average number from 1 to about 60, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion;
(iv) quaternary ammonium salts having the formula:
wherein R 31 , R 33 and R 34 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 32 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion;
(v) ether amines having the formula:
wherein R 41 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 42 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 43 and R 44 are independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, or —(R 45 O) x 4 R 46 , R 45 in each of the x 4 (R 45 —O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 46 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, and x 4 is an average number from 1 to about 50;
(vi) amine oxides having the formula:
wherein R 51 , R 52 and R 53 are independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl, —(R 54 O) x 5 R 55 , or —R 56 (OR 54 ) x 5 OR 55 , R 54 in each of the x 5 (R 54 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 55 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 56 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 6 carbon atoms, x 5 is an average number from 1 to about 50, and the total number of carbon atoms in R 51 , R 52 and R 53 is at least 8;
(vii) dialkoxylated amines having the formula:
wherein R 61 is a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 6 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 62 in each of the x 6 (R 62 O) and the y 6 (R 62 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 63 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms and x 6 and y 6 are independently an average number from 1 to about 40;
(viii) aminated alkoxylated alcohols having the formula:
wherein R 71 is hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 72 in each of the x 7 (R 72 O) and y 7 (R 72 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; R 73 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 74 and R 75 are each independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, —(R 76 ) n 7 —(R 72 O) y 7 R 77 , or R 74 and R 75 , together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a cyclic or heterocyclic ring; R 76 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 77 is hydrogen or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, n 7 is 0 or 1, x 7 and y 7 are independently an average number from 1 to about 60;
(ix) alkyl alkoxylated phosphates having the formula:
wherein R 81 and R 83 are independently a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 4 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 82 in each of the m (R 82 O) and the n (R 82 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; and m and n are independently from 1 to about 30;
(x) alkyl alkoxylated phosphates having the formula:
wherein R 91 is a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 92 in each of the a (R 92 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; and a is from 1 to about 30; and
(xi) alkylpolyglycosides having the formula:

where R 101 is hydrogen or C 1-8 hydrocarbyl, R 104 is hydrogen or C 1-4 hydrocarbyl, q is 0 or 1, sug is (i) an open or cyclic structure derived from sugars or (ii) a hydroxyalkyl, polyhydroxyalkyl or poly(hydroxyalkyl)alkyl group, u is an average number from 1 to about 2, and v is an integer from 1 to 3.
23 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the first surfactant comprises
(i) a secondary or tertiary amine having the formula: wherein R 1 is hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen or hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; (ii) monoalkoxylated quaternary ammonium salts having the formula: wherein R 21 and R 25 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 24 is hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 22 in each of the x 2 (R 22 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 23 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, x is an average number from 1 to about 60, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion; (iii) quaternary ammonium salts having the formula: wherein R 31 , R 33 and R 34 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 32 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion; (iv) aminated alkoxylated alcohols having the formula: wherein R 71 is hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 72 in each of the x 7 (R 72 O) and y 7 (R 72 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; R 73 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 74 and R 75 are each independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, —(R 76 ) n 7 —(R 72 O) y 7 R 77 , or R 74 and R 75 , together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a cyclic or heterocyclic ring; R 76 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 77 is hydrogen or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, n 7 is 0 or 1, x 7 and y 7 are independently an average number from 1 to about 60; (v) alkyl alkoxylated phosphates having the formula: wherein R 81 and R 83 are independently a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 4 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 82 in each of the m (R 82 O) and the n (R 82 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; and m and n are independently from 1 to about 30; (vi) alkyl alkoxylated phosphates having the formula: wherein R 91 is a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 92 in each of the a (R 92 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; and a is from 1 to about 30; and (vii) alkylpolyglycosides having the formula: [R 101 —(R 104 ) q -(sug) u OH] v (11) where R 101 is hydrogen or C 1-18 hydrocarbyl, R 104 is hydrogen or C 1-4 hydrocarbyl, q is 0 or 1, sug is (i) an open or cyclic structure derived from sugars or (ii) a hydroxyalkyl, polyhydroxyalkyl or poly(hydroxyalkyl)alkyl group, u is an average number from 1 to about 2, and v is an integer from 1 to 3.
24 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, dicamba and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof.
25 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises 2,4-D or an agriculturally acceptable salt thereof and the surfactant component comprises one or more surfactants selected from the group consisting of:
(i) ether amines having the formula: wherein R 41 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 42 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 43 and R 44 are independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, or —(R 45 O) x 4 R 46 , R 45 in each of the x 4 (R 45 —O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 46 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, and x 4 is an average number from 1 to about 50; (ii) dialkoxylated amines having the formula: wherein R 61 is a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 6 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 62 in each of the x 6 (R 62 O) and the y 6 (R 62 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 63 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms and x 6 and y 6 are independently an average number from 1 to about 40; and (iii) aminated alkoxylated alcohols having the formula: wherein R 71 is hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 72 in each of the x 7 (R 72 O) and y 7 (R 72 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; R 73 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 74 and R 75 are each independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, —(R 76 ) n 7 —(R 72 O) y 7 R 77 , or R 74 and R 75 , together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a cyclic or heterocyclic ring; R 76 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 77 is hydrogen or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, n 7 is 0 or 1, x 7 and y 7 are independently an average number from 1 to about 60.
26 . The composition of claim 25 further comprising a second surfactant component comprising one or more surfactants selected from the group consisting of:
(a) a secondary or tertiary amine having the formula: wherein R 1 is hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen or hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; (b) dialkoxylated quaternary ammonium salt having the formula: wherein R 11 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 12 in each of the x (R 12 O) and y (R 12 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 13 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, R 14 hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, x and y are independently an average number from 1 to about 40, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion; (c) monoalkoxylated quaternary ammonium salts having the formula: wherein R 21 and R 25 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 24 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 22 in each of the x 2 (R 22 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 23 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, x is an average number from 1 to about 60, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion; (d) quaternary ammonium salts having the formula: wherein R 31 , R 33 and R 34 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 32 is hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and X − is an agriculturally acceptable anion; (e) amine oxides having the formula: wherein R 51 , R 52 and R 53 are independently hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl, —(R 54 O) x 5 R 55 , or —R 56 (OR 54 ) x 5 OR 55 , R 54 in each of the x 5 (R 54 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene, R 55 is hydrogen, or a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, R 56 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 6 carbon atoms, x 5 is an average number from 1 to about 50, and the total number of carbon atoms in R 51 , R 52 and R 53 is at least 8; (f) alkyl alkoxylated phosphates having the formula: wherein R 81 and R 83 are independently a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 4 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 82 in each of the m (R 82 O) and the n (R 82 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; and m and n are independently from 1 to about 30; (g) alkyl alkoxylated phosphates having the formula: wherein R 91 is a linear or branched alkyl, linear or branched alkenyl, linear or branched alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having from about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms; R 92 in each of the a (R 92 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; and a is from 1 to about 30; (h) alkylpolyglycosides having the formula: [R 101 —(R 104 ) q -(sug) u OH] v (11) where R 101 is hydrogen or C 1-18 hydrocarbyl, R 104 is hydrogen or C 1-4 hydrocarbyl, q is 0 or 1, sug is (i) an open or cyclic structure derived from sugars or (ii) a hydroxyalkyl, polyhydroxyalkyl or poly(hydroxyalkyl)alkyl group, u is an average number from 1 to about 2, and v is an integer from 1 to 3; and (i) amines or quaternary ammonium salts having the formula: wherein R 111 is linear or branched alkyl or aryl having from about 4 to about 16 carbon atoms, R 112 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, or —(CH 2 CH 2 O) d H, R 113 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, or —(CH 2 CH 2 O) e H wherein the sum of d and e is not more than about 5; R 114 is hydrogen or methyl; R 116 in each of the c (R 116 O) groups is independently C 2 -C 4 alkylene; R 115 is hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 2 to about 6 carbon atoms; and A- is an agriculturally acceptable anion.
27 . The composition of claim 26 wherein the second surfactant component comprises said alkylpolyglycoside.
28 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least about 5:1.
29 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least about 30:1.
30 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least about 60:1.
31 . The composition of claim 22 wherein at least about 90 percent by weight of the glyphosate is present in the form of the potassium salt thereof.
32 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 325 grams acid equivalent per liter.
33 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 425 grams acid equivalent per liter.
34 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 525 grams acid equivalent per liter.
35 . The composition of claim 22 wherein total surfactant present in the composition is in an amount of at least about 5 wt. % based on the total weight of the composition.
36 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the first surfactant component are present in a weight ratio of from about 1.9:1 to about 6:1.
37 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the composition has a cloud point of at least about 50° C.
38 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the composition has a crystallization point not higher than about 0° C.
39 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the herbicide content consists of glyphosate or a herbicidal derivative thereof and the auxin herbicide component.
40 . The composition of claim 22 wherein the composition further comprises an organic solvent, said composition containing not more than 10 weight percent of said organic solvent based on the total weight of the composition.
41 . The composition of claim 26 wherein the first surfactant component and the second surfactant component are present in a weight ratio of from about 1:1 to about 6:1.
42 . A method of killing or controlling weeds or unwanted vegetation comprising:
diluting the composition of claim 22 in an amount of water to form an application mixture; and applying a herbicidally effective amount of the application mixture to foliage of the weeds or unwanted vegetation.
43 . The method of claim 42 wherein the weeds or undesired plants comprise a dicot.
44 . The method of claim 43 wherein the dicot comprises at least one broadleaf weed.
45 . The method of claim 42 wherein the application mixture is applied to foliage of crop plants genetically transformed or selected to tolerate glyphosate and said weeds or said unwanted vegetation growing in close proximity to the crop plants to control the weeds or unwanted vegetation while leaving the crop plants substantially unharmed.
46 . The method of claim 45 wherein the weeds or undesired plants comprise a dicot.
47 . The method of claim 46 wherein the dicot comprises at least one broadleaf weed.
48 . An aqueous herbicidal concentrate composition comprising:
(a) glyphosate, predominantly in the form of the isopropylammonium salt thereof, in a concentration of greater than 360 grams acid equivalent per liter; (b) an auxin herbicide component comprising one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, 2,4-DB, dichlorprop, MCPA, MCPB, mecoprop, dicamba, picloram, quniclorac and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof; and (c) a surfactant component in solution or stable suspension, emulsion or dispersion, comprising one or more surfactants; wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 9.5:1 and the composition has a cloud point of at least about 50° C. and a crystallization point not higher than about 0° C.
49 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, dicamba and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof.
50 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the auxin herbicide component comprises 2,4-D or an agriculturally acceptable salt or ester thereof.
51 . The composition of claim 48 wherein at least about 60 percent by weight of the glyphosate is present in the form of the isopropylammonium salt thereof.

53 . The composition of claim 48 wherein at least about 90 percent by weight of the glyphosate is present in the form of the isopropylammonium salt thereof.
54 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 400 grams acid equivalent per liter.
55 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 440 grams acid equivalent per liter.
56 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate is present in an amount of at least about 480 grams acid equivalent per liter.
57 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 10:1.
58 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 15:1.
59 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least 20:1.
60 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the surfactant component is present in an amount of at least about 5 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.
61 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the surfactant component are present in a weight ratio of from about 1.9:1 to about 6:1.
62 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the herbicide content consists of glyphosate or a herbicidal derivative thereof and the auxin herbicide component.
63 . The composition of claim 48 wherein the composition further comprises an organic solvent, said composition containing not more than 10 weight percent of said organic solvent based on the total weight of the composition.
64 . A method of killing or controlling weeds or unwanted vegetation comprising:
diluting the composition of claim 48 in an amount of water to form an application mixture; and applying a herbicidally effective amount of the application mixture to foliage of the weeds or unwanted vegetation.
65 . The method of claim 64 wherein the weeds or undesired plants comprise a dicot.
66 . The method of claim 65 wherein the dicot comprises at least one broadleaf weed.
67 . The method of claim 64 wherein the application mixture is applied to foliage of crop plants genetically transformed or selected to tolerate glyphosate and said weeds or said unwanted vegetation growing in close proximity to the crop plants to control the weeds or unwanted vegetation while leaving the crop plants substantially unharmed.
68 . The method of claim 67 wherein the weeds or undesired plants comprise a dicot.
69 . The method of claim 68 wherein the dicot comprises at least one broadleaf weed.
70 . A method of killing or controlling weeds or unwanted plants comprising:
diluting an aqueous herbicidal concentrate composition in an amount of water to form an application mixture; and applying a herbicidally effective amount of the application mixture to foliage of the weeds or unwanted plants, wherein the weeds or unwanted plants comprise Commelina and the aqueous herbicidal concentrate composition comprises: (a) glyphosate or a herbicidal derivative thereof; (b) an auxin herbicide component comprising one or more auxin herbicides selected from the group consisting of 2,4-D, 2,4-DB, dichlorprop, MCPA, MCPB, mecoprop, dicamba, picloram, quniclorac and agriculturally acceptable salts or esters thereof; and (c) a surfactant component in solution or stable suspension, emulsion or dispersion, comprising one or more surfactants.
71 . The method of claim 70 wherein the glyphosate (acid equivalent basis) and the auxin herbicide component (acid equivalent basis) are present in a weight ratio of at least about 5:1.Cited by (0)
