Birdcage attachments

Abstract

Birdcage attachments are mountable to a birdcage and present a bird with a variety of interesting and challenging activities. The toy attachments encourage birds to learn by experimenting. As a bird manipulates some parts of the toy attachments, the bird will discover that the parts may be put into different positions and remain there until deciding to move them again. In most cases, the parts will not automatically return to their original state or position if the bird stops playing, challenging a bird even more to return the toy to its original state.

1 . A birdcage attachment comprising: 
 a non-opaque mounting plate provided with means for mounting the mounting plate to a birdcage;    a plurality of support arms extending outwardly from the mounting plate; a toy supported by the support arms the toy being rotatable along support between the support arms, with respect to the support arms and the mounting plate.    
   
   
       2 . A birdcage attachment in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the support is a bar and the toy is a bell rotatable about the bar.  
   
   
       3 . A birdcage attachment in accordance with  claim 2 , wherein the bell further comprises a striker attached to a lever plate from which depends a pair of pull chains.  
   
   
       4 . A birdcage attachment in accordance with  claim 3 , wherein a tug on one pull chain causes the other pull chain to rise and causes the striker to hit the bell.  
   
   
       5 . A birdcage attachment in accordance with  claim 2 , wherein the bar is positioned above the means for mounting.  
   
   
       6 . A birdcage attachment in accordance with  claim 2  further comprises a pendulum supported by the bell and connected to a striker of the bell, the pendulum being connected to a first and second end piece suspended from the pendulum at opposite ends of the pendulum, wherein when one of the first and the second end piece is displaced the pendulum moves and displaces the striker from a rest position to a striking position causing the bell to be rung.  
   
   
       7 . The birdcage attachment of  claim 6  wherein each of the end pieces is connected to the pendulum by a respective chain.  
   
   
       8 . The birdcage attachment of  claim 6  wherein one of the end pieces is a bead.  
   
   
       9 . The birdcage attachment of  claim 6  wherein when a bird strikes one of the end pieces the bell is rung.  
   
   
       10 . A birdcage toy comprising: 
 a bell;    a striker in the bell for impacting the bell to produce a sound;    a pendulum supported by the bell and connected to a striker of the bell, the pendulum being connected to a first and second end piece suspended from the pendulum at opposite ends of the pendulum, wherein when one of the first and the second end piece is displaced the pendulum moves and displaces the striker from a rest position to a striking position causing the bell to be rung.    
   
   
       11 . The bird toy of  claim 10  wherein each of the end pieces is connected to the pendulum by a respective chain.  
   
   
       12 . The bird toy of  claim 10  wherein one of the end pieces is a bead.  
   
   
       13 . The bird toy of  claim 10  wherein when a bird strikes one of the end piece the bell is rung.  
   
   
       14 . The bird toy of  claim 10  further comprising a support for attachment to a birdcage.
