Abstract
This invention features methods and compositions useful for treating and diagnosing diseases of the nervous system, retina, skin, muscle, joint, and cartilage using a Dragon family protein. Protein and nucleic acid sequences of human, murine, zebrafish, and C. elegans Dragon family members are also disclosed.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for diagnosing a patient as having a Dragon-related condition comprising assessing a Dragon gene in said patient, wherein said Dragon gene comprises a mutation resulting in altered Dragon biological activity.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said Dragon gene is DRAGON.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said assessing comprises the polymerase chain reaction.
