Abstract

Drinking straws ( 1 ) are enclosed at certain distances from each other and in parallel between two plastic films ( 2 ) as a continuous strip ( 3 ) of straws. The strip ( 3 ) is fed into a transport box ( 4 ) without lateral displacements in a straight stack with parallel layers. The internal width of the box ( 4 ) corresponds to the width of the strip ( 3 ).

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of packing and transporting drinking straws in a transport box, the straws being carried by plastic film at certain distances from each other and in parallel as a continuous strip of straws, wherein the strip of straws is fed without lateral displacements in one or more straight stacks with parallel layers into a transport box with an internal width substantially corresponding to the width of the strip or a multiple thereof.

2 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the straws in one layer in the stack are positioned in the interspaces between the straws in an adjacent layer.

3 . A method as claimed in claim 1 , including the step of sealing together opposite ends of said strip so as to form a closed-loop strip of interconnected straws, said transport box having an internal width substantially corresponding to the length of said straws.

4 . An arrangement for packing and transporting drinking straws in a transport box, the straws being carried by plastic film at certain distances from each other and in parallel as a continuous strip of straws wherein the transport box has an internal width substantially corresponding to the width of the strip of straws or a multiple thereof, enabling feeding the strip of straws without lateral displacements in one or more straight stacks with parallel layers.

5 . An arrangement as claimed in claim 4 , wherein opposite ends of said strip are sealed together so as to form a closed-loop strip of interconnected straws, said transport box having an internal width substantially corresponding to the length of said straws.

6 . An arrangement as claimed in claim 4 , wherein said straws are only partially enclosed between two plastic films having a width which is less than the length of the straws, said films being sealed together at intervals so as to form a plurality of equidistantly spaced sleeves housing said straws and from which opposite end portions of the straws project axially.
