. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 108 wherein said inflammatory bowel disease is Celiac disease, enteropathy associated with seronegative arthropathies, microscopic or collagenous colitis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, or pouchitis.

. A pharmaceutical composition, comprising an effective amount of an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof having the epitopic specificity of the ACT-1 monoclonal antibody and a physiologically acceptable vehicle or carrier, wherein said effective amount is an amount sufficient to inhibit binding of MAdCAM to α4β7 integrin, and wherein said pharmaceutical composition is for treating inflammatory bowel disease in an individual.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 112 wherein said antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is a monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 112 wherein said antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is selected from the group consisting of a chimeric antibody, an antigen-binding fragment of a chimeric antibody, a humanized antibody and an antigen-binding fragment of a humanized antibody.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 112 wherein said inflammatory bowel disease is ulcerative colitis.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 112 wherein said inflammatory bowel disease is Crohn's disease.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 112 wherein said inflammatory bowel disease is Celiac disease, enteropathy associated with seronegative arthropathies, microscopic or collagenous colitis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, or pouchitis.

. A pharmaceutical composition, comprising an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof having the epitopic specificity of the ACT-1 monoclonal antibody and a physiologically acceptable vehicle or carrier, wherein said pharmaceutical composition comprises multiple doses, and each dose comprises an effective amount of said antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof, and wherein said pharmaceutical composition is for treating inflammatory bowel disease in an individual.
